I don't think you are alone in feeling like this. I have 2 kids and a husband but sometimes think rather than there being extra hands to help that actually means 3 extra bodies to tidy up after! I am not the most house proud person but find multi tasking and everything having a place are what helps.
For me, that means little things like putting the washing away whilst the youngest is in the bath (she's big enough not to have to watch too closely), washing up as I go along - I confess to never drying the pots, but at the next washing up whilst the water is running I put the dry pots from the drainer away. Make good use of storage - de clutter anything that you don't love enough to find a place for then I literally run round sticking everything back in its place and then run over with the Hoover.
Other confessions: I only iron what is absolutely necessary and then I only do it as needed. Floors hoovered regularly but rarely moppedhouse is superficially clean but if you look closely, not so much.
My mum used to spend hours cleaning and my childhood home was spotless. Funny but now when I say sorry it's a bit dusty etc she tells me I work too hard to spend my free time cleaning when I could be enjoying do other things, and she wishes she had done the same. So what I'm trying to say is don't beat yourself up0 -
Thanks for taking the time to share Islandhoppa,
What you say makes sense. I do tend let things pile up. I need to do it bit by bit...And putting back where they were is definitely a failing of mine

I have a temperature and one side of my face is swollen. I saw every hour until 4.00am last night. So, lots of pain. This happens every few years after I have flu or cold. The first time years ago, I took antibiotics because the GP convinced me to. It worked but It took 6 months to get strong again after the antibiotics. The next time I just slept a lot, took vitamin C, and used a tea tree gargle every few hours and within 4 days it was over. So, I am doing this again. If it doesn’t clear in a week I will go to the GP
I spent my £2 and 50p jar
I went to the chemist as I was out of tea tree oil. It reminded me how important it is to keep my first aid kit up to date. I need to be in a position where if I am unwell all I need is to hand
HnB has tea tree in the penny sale (£5.49 for 2)
I had some organic strawberries today. They were reduced to £1.55 and they were all sweet and delicious, like strawberries I remember from years ago.
I bought 2 plants that were £8 each reduced to £1.99 each.:money:
I bought a bag of short grain brown rice
In the CS where I dropped off a bag of stuff I saw Clinique face wash mini (perfect for travel) it was £1. I also got a 18 month diary for £1.50 so I can wait until February for the expensive diaries to be reduced! :money:
I’m WFH and will get the time back later. I like having time in the kitty.
I am working on the sofa, laptop on knees and taking it very easy whilst working. I am enjoying my recycled rug on my lap. It isn’t at all cold but I love the comfort of a rug over my legs
I hope your Monday got off to a better start than mine

Life is too short to dry pots
I love ironing though, I find it relaxing and it gives me a whole stack of new clothes which is so much nicer than eg hoovering.
Hope you are feeling better DIA.

I am feeling better than I was. My face is still swollen and tender but not hot to the touch, so hopefully the infection is abating.
Thank you all for your good wishes
I looked at Dave Ramsey’s baby steps
Baby Step 1- Save £1000 Emergency Fund
Baby Step 2- Become Debt Free
Baby Step 3- Save 3-6 months of expenses in savings
Baby Step 4- Save 15% of Income for retirement
Baby Step 5- Save for your children’s college education
Baby Step 6- Pay off your home
Baby Step 7- Give to others.
I was surprised to see I am not doing badly. I have completed stage 6 and 7. Step 4? I already save 10% of my income for retirement through work. They do a salary sacrifice scheme at work, so I am thinking of saving an additional 5% after I am debt free as I won’t pay tax on it. I am working on step 3, my emergency fund, and after that 3-6 months in expenses. Step 5? I don’t have kids but I have god children and nieces and nephews. It would be nice to set up an account after I complete the other steps. I might call it ‘younger generation’ and use it to help, if any of them needs a boost for education or housing
I hope the day is going well

That's great DIA - nice to find that you're further on the journey than you thought, and I like that his list includes others.

Thanks Rosa, Yes I like that the focus is others too. I wanted to project positivity this morning as I was feeling a bit pants. It worked. I felt better. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I struggled today but I made it through. I took pain killers once twice instead of 5 times like yesterday, so all in the right direction. I thought the day would never end but it has.
Two more days until I can reduce my debt. Funny what I’ve ended up looking forward to.
No yoga today or zumba tomorrow due to illness but I will go next week.
A NSD today and I am aiming for a NSD tomorrow too. On Thursday when I am paid I will withdraw £50 to last me for until 4th September for fares and food shopping. From what I have in I can create the following, slightly unbalanced meal plan for the next few days
Wednesday: yoghurt, berries and seeds
no lunch
beef and courgette ragu with brown rice
Thursday: yoghurt, berries and seeds
buckwheat pasta, spinach, spicy marinara sauce and salad
leftover ragu with grilled veggies
Friday: yoghurt, berries, seeds
leftover pasta and grilled veggies
lentil and spinach soup
Saturday: yoghurt, an orange, seeds
lentil and spinach soup
bacon, chickpeas and haloumi salad with tahini sauce
Hoping for a good night's sleep tonight. Wishing you the sameIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
