Hello DIA - didn't want to read and run. I'm sorry you've had this set back but I'm sure you'll be able to overcome it. You have a really positive plan and have made significant steps forward already. Good luck with the bank conversation.

I couldn’t offload my anxiety to a professional over the weekend so I was so pleased to have my diary and my diary friends. Your support really helped

INOD, Rosa, milasaves, Brizzled, fortunesmiles, beanielou, thank you. :A

I went to see the bank this morning. They would not see me without an appointment but I made the call to the call centre whilst there.

The letter I received showing a default and an additional £1,500 + was wrong. It was an error.:mad:I insisted they send me a letter stating that. They were helpful in the end but I explained I would still be writing a letter of complaint and I will.

I am enormously relieved. :D I wouldn’t have lost the house even if it was right, but I don’t know the future and a default begins to build a case for them, should I get in trouble at a later stage in any way. I also feared entering a new arrangement on an increased sum as there isn’t the flexibility in my budget to do so. I had an anxious weekend and these situations trigger deeper fears for me. :(

What I hadn’t shared was this month was supposed to be the final payment on my mortgage so the high of that was taken away by the shifted goal post.

The incredible news is I was right about the payment due this month down to the nearest pound. The woman in the bank was amazed I had kept the letters sent and was able to show what the correct figure should be. :T

I paid my final mortgage payment over the phone. I AM NOW MORTGAGE FREE.

I can concentrate on the secured debt I owe. If I default on the debt my home is at risk and I can’t relax until that too has gone. But, it is still an achievement and I feel I can breathe out a little bit more. I am relatively young to have done this so I am proud of myself today. :D I am altering my signature today too as my debt is in the 18s now. All very positive.

I took my shoe rack to the charity shop and my big sack of books. I’m glad to have made more space in my home.

I wanted to give myself a treat for making my last ever mortgage payment but I didn’t know what to do. In the end I had a Ner0 coffee and a chocolate, something I used to do most days. How times have changed.

I purchased and collected my train tickets for Cornwall so I can begin to look forward to my little holiday :)

    Silver linings?

    1. I still did my online shop but I halved the cost and then went to Lid1.

    2. This has pushed me towards asking work for an extra WFH day. I will also begin to search for a counsellor and a gardener to help with those time I feel overwhelmed and panic stricken.

    3. I will ask for the day back when I was unwell as suggested by Rosa

So, life is good again. My migraine is well and truly gone, (not merely hiding and waiting to pounce). The sun is shining and I’m back on track now with a DF date of July 2018 :)

Thank you for reading and I hope your week got off to a positive start too

Wooooo WELL DONE YOU!! How fantastic! :j:beer::j:T:T:j

Big hurrahs and hugs for you standing up to the bank and getting the error sorted. I suspect they sometimes get away with sending that and scaring people into paying. Totally agree you should still complain and I hope you will make it clear how distressing this was for you - hopefully it will lessen the risk of it happening to someone else. And might get you some compensation :D

Very inspired by you and MT's mortgage free achievements :A - it sounds a lovely security to have and will be my next goal as soon as I get my new work set up done (so probably in the new year).

I love your point about treats, I find this too. I'm not sure how to explain it. I guess I find that the former little fleeting treats feel less important when I am better focused on building pleasure and meaning more deeply into my life.

    So pleased for you :T
