I have been out all day trying to achieve my goals. It worked well. Maybe I will reserve a day a month for forwarding my goals in future :)

My financially fit in the future goal to open a credit union account has been achieved.
My account is open. I had an account 6 years ago and closed it in a huff so I was ready to pay £5 to open a new account. Instead they traced the old account so no opening charge. AND my standing order continued into a dormant account, so I had £100 sitting there all the time :T:T

Thanks to JoJo for alerting me to the fact that you can have more than one savings pot with your savings account. I now have three :)
I intend to do a statement of account to work out my irregular payments and hold this in a separate pot so I can pay when these expenses occur. I will also have an emergency pot and a holiday savings pot. It is sad that I am so excited…:o

Thanks to INOD for the heads up regarding life insurance. I now have it free with my CU account :)

My frog of the week has been eaten
I purchased my phone. I went to JL so I could get a 2 year warranty :)
After months of procrastination I have a phone. I will set it up tonight :)

My investment in health and wellbeing task is half completed. :) I now have the correct vitamins and now need to find a pill box organiser to ensure I take them.

All this spending and the result is a very, very, tight month money wise. Today, I don’t mind as I have achieved what I needed to, but I am a moody so and so, so in a fortnight I am bound to be moaning about having so little money ;)

I hope your day went well too reader

Well done on all your achievements DIA. You keep reminding me that I need to sort a new phone as my contract has ended. I must get it done.

You seem to be incredibly organised at the moment. I hope it's catching.

Yesterday was a good day where I met my goals. Today, not as goal orientated...

I have to do some work tonight as the deadline is first thing and I have not done the work yet. It is looking like a very late night/early morning for me.

I am starting to feel overwhelmed. I have set up a private group at the request of my college group and now I don’t want to do it. It is all becoming vey complicated and it feels like a burden. Every group member has contacted me with a special request and all of them are getting on my nerves. I need to find a way to exit. I would rather have the time than the money right now. I will still make my DF target of the beginning of 2018.

I WFH and after work I walked to my local L1dl. I got loads of courgettes for 50 odd p. They had some glass bowls with sealable lids that I am happy with. I still spent more than I would have liked to.

I also went to Superd3g and they had compressed deodorant for 30p. I bought 5. They will be great for travelling with. I am packing a bag of mini toiletries so I have a bag ready whenever I do a short trip. I’m going to buy a nightie and some slippers and underwear too and a small purse with £20 in it. You never know…

I had to buy batteries and a torch so I could accurately read my meter which I have now done :)

I paid £50 to my CU account and set up a regular standing order. I now have £150 in savings. £850 to go...a not too shabby start

    Message to self STOP SPENDING

I want to get to £25 back from an item from IK3A. I might go after work tomorrow…

I hope your day went well reader :)

If the private group is not right for you at this moment in time then that is ok.

    Hi DIA,

Sorry you're feeling overwhelmed - I'm not sure I know exactly what the group is, but is there a way to partially step back from it without removing yourself from it all together? If they're all being needy and demanding, can you politely put forward some kind of service level agreement so that you're setting expectations realistically?

It may be that the only way out is out, but wanted to suggest a different approach to see if it sparked a solution for you.

Glad you got your CU account up and running! It's amazing how quickly it builds up in there. As I've mentioned before, I treat mine like a bill - the SO comes out and I forget about it, so it's always a nice surprise when I login and see the balance :)
    CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

Thanks JoJo. My CU account is set up on a standing order to debit on pay day before I can get my mitts on the money. I feel really pleased to have CU savings again.

You are so right JoJo. My inclination is always to get the hell out when I feel overwhelmed. In my haste I rarely consider other ways. Thank you for your insightful comment :)

So, I just wrote an email to the group making it clear that their demands were taking much more of my headspace than I was comfortable with. I told them I was extremely busy as I juggle a full time job, part time work and my own creative work. I then set very firm boundaries and basically said, this is what it is. Take it or leave it.

I told them I would be more than happy if they wished to go ahead on a peer support basis with each other without me.

I have had a flurry of emails back almost immediately with apologies for speaking out of turn. Everyone is now saying they agree with my format completely and they are hoping I will do the group as it is the best thing to happen to some of them for a long time. They seem to have quietened down.

The funny thing is now I can see my finances are on the right road I am much less inclined to do anything I don’t want to do just for the money and once people know that, they in turn seem much less likely to take the p*ss

My balance is restored again for now :)
