I took a flask to a course I was on.
I took the long route to get to the course to save money
I avoided coffee in Pret. When I got to the course there was filter coffee for free.
I didn't have a NSD but I only spent £6 on reduced organic fruit and veggies. The rocket was prepped so I've put it in the freezer and will make lentil, rocket and miso soup although I'm not sure it will work?
3 good things
It was a good decision to buy good quality brandy in February for my decanter. It was only a small bottle but I haven't felt the need to buy any wine AT ALL since and I still have a little brandy left
A late start today
I left my make-up bag at my friend's house and today I got it back. I thought I could live without make-up but mascara is a wonderful thing isn't it?
I hope your day was a good one reader

Eyelash tinting is an even more wonderful thing
- it doesn't smear overnight and is already there in the morning :rotfl:. Only makeup I insist on!

A NSD again. Realising these are getting easier to do. I'm glad something is...:)
I swapped sheep's yoghurt for cows to save money, but I've had tummy problems so going to change back. I'm lactose intolerant but I can get away with a little dairy unless I push it and I always do!! Binned some Lindor chocolate as it is also a culprit. It's painful binning chocolate
I found a MacBook power adapter. I'm going to photograph and list it on gumtree. I don't know why I am keeping it when it doesn't fit my current computer?
I also found a Panasonic bread maker paddle. I'm putting that on there too. As a famous supermarket once said 'every little helps'
Washed clothes outside.
My blender stick has been binned it wouldn't blend chickpeas for humous. I can't complain it was 10 years old! However, it adds to the gloomy feeling that everything in my home needs replacing
I haven't been swimming since Good Friday. A week ago. I will go again tomorrow morning. I read MTs diary yesterday and it made up my mind about the health club. I do enjoy going but once this membership finishes in 3 month's time I will not renew it. I am glad I decided to go for the short membership now. I'll need the money for debt repayment but hopefully I'll be in a fitter better place in a few months time. The health club will still be there when I'm debt free and my money belongs to me again
I made soup again
3 good things
Clothes washed and on the line. Brought them in and inhaled the outdoor smell
WFH day. I so love those.
I booked a few days off next week
Hope your day went well reader

I love your diary, you're such a lovely engaging writer.
Have you got any plans for your days off? Housey things? Relaxing? Either way I hope the sun shines for you. I was looking on group0n earlier and spotted a 1 month gym membership for £12. I know it's nowhere near you but maybe there's something similar near you that you could join if you miss your health club? Just a treat now and again
Have a lovely weekend DIAx

I'm thinking about my days off already. Definitely gardening will feature but so will reading books in a sunny cafe window.
Today
Low energy today. I could easily have achieved nothing except my job. I WFH today. I might have a bit of a bug as my head felt stuffed up when I woke up.
I made a little list of things I've done so the day doesn't feel wasted:
Washing done and on line x2
Wash-up x2
Ironing done
Dry and pack away dishes x1
Made a fish and spinach curry
File nails/eyebrows
Made porridge
I'm craving sugar so it's just as well I'm having a NSD and I won't break it, which is easy actually, because my tiredness outweighs my greed
3 good things
Collected my rail tickets for Scotland from the machine. Now I have the tickets in my hand Scotland seems closer
I had piles of clothes hanging around this morning but now they are washed, or in the laundry basket, or ironed and packed away. It's progress
My eyebrows look better. Groomed eyebrows are a very good thing
Off to scramble some eggs for an early supper
I hope you had a good day

The low energy continues. I spent 30 minutes in bed calculating the last time I phoned in sick and whether it would be so bad not to go to work, and whether extreme tiredness equated to sick…:o
So considering my start I did well to get there on time and put in a day’s work. Travel was affected so it took me 2 hours to get home. END OF MOANING…
I took my swimming kit to work. OVER OPTIMISTIC. I had nothing left to swim with…In reality even on normal energy days, I need to swim before midday. I am a morning exerciser. LEARNING POINT
A spendy day. I now have no doubt that tiredness and spending are linked for me.
Coffee in Nero (first time for ages, I used to go most days!) £2.15
Travel costs £10
Nuts for breakfast and chocolate £3.58
Waitrose shop (includes a bottle of wine, funny how as soon as I knew I hadn't had wine for 6 weeks I started to want some...) £17.50
Reduced finest bacon 3 packs £2.89 x3 = £8.67 but I paid £1.10!!! :T
TOTAL = £34.33 :eek:
I’m going to freeze the bacon in batches of 4 slices. Thinking of butter bean dishes with bits of bacon and shallots in and bacon with boiled egg in a salad…and veggie burgers with bacon…
I am going to have a NSD tomorrow and stay in and do some gardening and house-y things.
Today I had a brainwave (they happen sometimes). I can easily do a NSD so going to aim for 2 NSDs a week but what if I turned it on it’s head and started thinking about spend days so NSDs are the norm. Would that make me plan the spending more carefully on the days I do spend?
I also want to start with a fast day every week. I’m thinking of Thursdays because that is a really busy day and also a day I can’t fit in exercise so eating less should be easier. I have gone through my diary and identified 2 NSDs and 1 fast day. I say fast day, but it’s 5:2 or in my case 5:1 so I can eat, but only 600 calories.
So, that’s me.
3 good things
Lunchtime sunshine by water
Tea lights and fairy lights, such a good combination
I am off work tomorrow and that edgy-don't-know-what-to-do-with-myself-without-spending feeling is yesterday's news. I have stopped thinking spending is essential to relax and have a nice day
I hope Saturday was kind to you reader

I planted a little bay tree and then I dug over and pruned my little herb bed. I brought in a few bay leaves and a small bunch of thyme to cook with.
I had stones and debris in the garden and I've cleared some away.
I loaded YNAB on to my computer then got scared and deleted it. I'm not sure I want my bank details linked with the program and all my financial info in 'the cloud'...
It might be part of the process but I find myself thinking of my finances too much. I might even start posting less to see if it helps or hinders? I really don't want to obsess for the next 2 years. Can I pay my debt as a lump payment. Work out a budget and just stick to it? Then stop thinking about it?
I threw away an awful fleece that depresses the hell out of me. I do that with clothes sometimes. I say, it's okay I'll only wear it inside and no one will see it and then I do and someone does
I've washed up a full draining board full 3 times and washed 2 lots of bed linen and tea towels and made a chorizo and chicken and butterbean stew thing. It was delicious
I might still cut the grass...
3 good things
Looking forward to my growing food course. It doesn't start until the end of April but I'm realising I'm lucky to have outside space at all
My bed linen is washed, dried and back on my bed smelling like spring
I cleaned the patio doors and changed the curtains.

Hi DIA
Just in case it helps with your decision... you don't have to link your bank account with YNAB, in fact at present there isn't much point as the import only works for US banks. And you can name the accounts whatever you like, so it doesn't have to reflect the real bank or include any account numbers etc. As far as I know, their security is as good as anything else, but also I feel it doesn't really matter as my YNAB doesn't include any info that would help anyone access my accounts.
Well done you for all the gardening and cooking... I had intentions of clearing my little garden but didn't get to it! And also hurrah for ditching clothes that don't make you feel good. I did something very similar a while back, I wore a fleece to the corner shop that I had kept for indoors and not really looked at in daylight for ages... it went straight in the bin when I got back!
Re tracking vs obsessing, you are still in the early stages so maybe give yourself a little more time to figure out what works for you. Some people track everything, some just post once a month, most of us have varied depending on where we are in the journey and what we need at the time. I'm sure you'll get there, and faster than you think. Have a (hug) and a hot chocolate :coffee:, sounds like what you need today (and I got some truly amazing hot chocolate from the farmer's market, so am sending you vibes for the virtual version!).

Thanks Rosa :A
I've swapped my morning coffee for special hot chocolate
It's funny, on one hand I think if I had been a little more financially focused (obsessed) in the past I might not be here, but I am where I am and yes, I will repay this debt and yes, it is early days, so I'll find my groove...
Re YNAB. Does that mean my details are not in the cloud and in fact it is like a spreadsheet that only gets updated when I update it? I'm still tempted to try it if that's the case?
Have a good day Rosa
