  • Except they're reknowned for not checking properly and saying photos are incorrect when they're fine.

    In which case they refund.

maybe, but then you have to go and get more pics done when the first lot would probably have been fine had you sent them in direct

This happened to me previously with my sons renewal the woman faffed about with the photographs and said the background was no good , even though I'd had them done at a machine that complied to the rules . Ended up sending them direct and had no problem !
When ours needed renewing I did it online and it was so simple , I got new photos done at a dry cleaners/photo shop and they were very good and cheaper than the photo booths.

I renewed last year and got it back within a week. I did not use the PO checking service.

I think it's beneficial for muppets who can't manage to read the form ;) (no reference to you OP)

When I applied for my partners first ever passport last year I found the form to be easy to fill in. The help notes were very extensive and left me with no doubt about exactly what had to be filled in. So really there is no need for check and send. I even signed her photo myself and there were no problems at all.

    Agreed.

I could understand the service being useful in the olden days when passport forms were complicated, but now.. especially if you're just renewing, they're an absolute doddle.

I did the online renewal form, got photos taken at my local PO, sent off the documents on 07 Jan and got them back on 14 Jan with a text inbetween. Cracking service!
