Which is almost certainly what would have happened if you'd done it yourself - I've never seen any evidence that using Check & Send adds any value.

I think it's beneficial for muppets who can't manage to read the form ;) (no reference to you OP)

I renewed mine last year alone without using a check and send service. Got my new passport within 10 days!

I did ours last year online , forms are easy compared to the paper one - filled them in while sat with a cuppa & sent them off . Got text updates and they were both back in less than a fortnight .
No need to bother with the ridiculous queueing system in our post office either.

I did mine today with out check and send straight forward renewal
with a change of name and it says on section 2 of the form of you put your number they will text you when they have got your form so looks like standard practice

  • I sent mine for renewal on Monday and received the same test this morning. I think i'll probably receive sometime next week.
    Good service
As for check and send, what a big fat waste of money that is:rotfl:

I think its a good service and always use it when I renew.

Sending my old passport back Special Delivery costs £6 odd, so for an extra few pound to get them to check my application/photos etc makes perfect sense to me.

Except they're reknowned for not checking properly and saying photos are incorrect when they're fine.
