EBAY Seller demanding removal of negative feedback!

    Ah - apologies. That's really interesting.....how do you then deal with the case? Can the buyer close it without a refund, or can you let it time out without Ebay automatically refunding? I don't think I've ever got a message asking for a replacement within an INR case - it's usually been done using Ebay messages - so I'd be interested to see how it can be done.

    There isn't an option for it. You have to trust the seller.

    I make my judgement based on each case - what the buyer says and their feedback history.

    If it looks like they're playing me, I'm more likely to apologise, refund and ask them to order again. If I think they're on the level - ask for a replacement, happy to confirm address, I'll take the chance and post out a replacement.

    I never EVER refund immediately. I have eight days to do a little digging if I think I'm played, and on occasion, by contacting other sellers have got enough information to confront the buyer and have them close the case.

    Good job your sons got some morals. Clearly don't get them from you.

    I'm normally the one pointing out morals. I know the son has the item and the money, but he never asked for the refund and he has been messed around a lot so it was sellers choice and kind of compensation for the son. He never tried to mislead the seller or trick the seller into paying out or anything like that. So in this case, I wouldn't say it's morally wrong not to give the seller the money for the third time.

    If he feels bad about it giving it to charity is always an option.

    I would, however, say it's morally wrong to accept it as a bribe and to change the feedback as the seller requested.

    On the basis that it'll take a fair bit of convincing (because you have said multiple times he feels bad), if it makes him feel better it's his choice, he's not losing out by doing so now he has the item and how he feels is more important than the money, I'm sure you'll agree. Most wouldn't and for good reason. There's far more reasons not to pay than to pay. I do get why he'd consider it though and something like that can play on some peoples minds if it bothers them.

    I'd say convince him not to repay any postage costs if he does repay though. It's not a bad thing if he feels he should repay - shame more buyers aren't like that!

    If you are sure the seller wants you to have the item and a refund then why not ask them? The situation to me reads as if the refund was due to the case being closed in the meantime a replacement was sent out. Incompetent staff to one side as that has been dealt with through the leaving of a negative, I would not be happy keeping money and an item it would feel too much like opportunist theft.. Would you be happy for someone to keep something of yours that you have also paid to post and have a refund, I wouldn't.

    Unless of course the seller does state they agree with it then your conscious is clear.

    If you truly believe the money was sent to remove the negative, then contact the seller. Say you have received the refund and since that was issued the item has now arrived.

    He didn't want it though. At no point has he said he wanted a refund. He ended up with it through no fault of his own. That's not dishonest. How many times do you think he should have to pay the useless seller!?

    I'm not sure contacting the seller accusing them of bribing them is the best way to go, they're not happy as it is. Best off reporting them and letting ebay look into it. The seller will only deny it. They know the buyer has a refund and the item.

    No, I'm sure none of us here would. The difference though? We wouldn't do any of what the seller has done! I'm sure none of us would have got that negative feedback and none of us would have deserved to lose the item and the money.

    Normally I'd 100% agree that it is wrong for a buyer to end up with both the item and the money, but it's different when the seller has made a choice that caused that to be the case, is a bad seller and the buyer is completely innocent.

    That's just an excuse though to try and justify keeping it. A simple message to the seller advising that for some reason they have refunded yet the item has now arrived will solve that issue.

    No, that's a fact. The buyer doesn't want to justify keeping it, he didn't want it. Therefore he can not in any way be considered dishonest.

    How it will it solve the issue? The seller knows that already.
