If a taxi is late making you miss your train, should they take you onto destination?

    The op tells them the actual time of the train...AdrianC is suggesting the op informs the taxi firm the train departure is 30 mins earlier than it actually is.

    The trouble is I would then end up at the station nearly an hour before the train departs, which rather defeats the object when I can walk there in 40 minutes. :)

    Why are you still giving them your business.
    Either go out earlier or use a different taxi company.

    I use them as they have the most cars in town and offer a fixed price based on distance rather than a meter, but I will try a different firm next time to see if they are any better.

    Could you possibly book the taxi for an earlier time?

    Well, you won't if the taxi firm you use is habitually late anyway, you'll end up there before the train leaves, and that's what you want.

    If you want to guarantee you don't miss the train, leave earlier. Or walk. Or cycle. Or drive and park. Third parties cannot always be relied upon.

    That seems like a quicker option than waiting half an hour for a taxi to not turn up, tbh.

    You have these options:

    * Assume taxi will be late - so call them sooner
    * Use a different agent for taxi
    * Drive yourself
    * Go to your destination in previous night and stay in hotel (some employer pay for hotel if destination is far from your home)
    Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
