If a taxi is late making you miss your train, should they take you onto destination?

Why not book for an earlier time than needed, problem sorted

What if you've no idea of journey times/traffic/where you are? You're paying the taxi company for a service other than just keeping a car in between the white lines.

Is this a regular trip on a schedule?

Have you ever complained to the taxi firm making you late?

In the unlikely event you really don't have a clue how long it'll take to get to the station...

    Train departure: 11.50
"Hello, Taxi firm? I need to be at <station> for 11.20. What time do you suggest picking me up?"

Which is exactly what the OP is doing but the taxi is then late.
    Not even wrong

The op tells them the actual time of the train...AdrianC is suggesting the op informs the taxi firm the train departure is 30 mins earlier than it actually is.

I often book minicabs to take me to the train station, and they often turn up late making me miss my train.

If they make you miss your train often.
Why are you still giving them your business.
Either go out earlier or use a different taxi company.

Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....
  • Use a taxi company with lots of cars (one I use have 200+ cars). One man band ones are never on time.

The one man band round here is far more reliable than the big boys.

I booked a minicab last summer to take me from a hotel to the train station. They messed up and went to the wrong hotel but when I phoned (after they didn't show) they were most apologetic and turned up. They then took me to the next station up the line as time was running short and wouldn't take any payment for the trip.

I wouldn't expect any sort of free trip out of them but if you act reasonably they probably will too. If they are completely useless and always unreliable then word usually soon gets round and people can move onto a rival.

    It's not a regular schedule.

I always phone up to ask where the taxi is (sometimes several times) but I have never submitted a formal complaint.
