If a taxi is late making you miss your train, should they take you onto destination?

It could never be upheld. As people have said on here, what if you were going 800 miles?! Makes no sense.
That's why I was surprised to hear it. The driver was insistent the firm in my town would have to take me to my destination and said most customers do not realise it. He was an experienced driver, so I just wonder why he said it! Perhaps it is just their company policy. I did wonder whether there is anything in licensing rules etc. which is why I thought I would ask on here.0 -
I suppose it would come down to contract law - they have breached the contract.
And negligence... if they sent the cab out but there was unforeseen hold up they shouldn't be liable0 -
Why not book for an earlier time than needed, problem sorted0

They always then ask "what time if your train?" and I tell them so I presume they log it on their system. They never say "allow more time".
Yeah, we always book a taxi to get us there about 20 -25 minutes before our train is due. I would rather wait around half an hour, than miss my train. If (for instance) someone's train is 1pm, and they know the taxi will take 15-20 minutes to get to the station, it's ridiculous to book it for 12.40pm. There can be all sorts of delays; tractors, Sunday drivers, accidents, all sorts. At least a third of the time, it takes a bit longer to reach our destination, than the 'usual' time...
If our train was 1pm, and I know it's 15 minutes drive (normally,) to the station, I would book a taxi for about 12.25 and tell them my train is a quarter to one!You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Get them to arrive 30 minutes earlier than you need and have the number for another company on hand, if they do not arrive within 5 minutes get the other company to send one ASAP.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Exactly, every locality has a company that is a cut above the pretty dismal performance of the usual crew, often the cost isn't much more, if the journey is important why risk it with second raters who can't do the job, overbook or get lost.0 -
I booked a taxi to take me to the shop to buy a lottery ticket on Saturday evening. It was late...0

A local taxi firm near me have it stated in their terms that they are not responsible for missed trains and flights and advise to allow plenty of time.0

Tip: When booking a taxi to take you to the station (it's not a train station, it's a railway station) simply tell the taxi firm your train is 15 minutes earlier than it actually is.0
