Contacted John Lewis to see if they would price match a TV which I found locally in a bricks n mortar store for £300 less.
Both TV exactly with warranty the same but they refuse to match it because the place I am going to end up buying it for state in the T&C that if I cancel after is is dispatched I would be charged a £29.99 fee because it is a 2 man delivery.

I want to buy it not return it !!!

Are John Lewis now really being that petty to try and squirm out of their advertised 'Never Knowingly Undersold' or do they now have to include the whole return policy of a store you want to match from?

I really don't know, but if it was me I'd simply buy it from the other shop.
    It's nothing , not nothink.

Who is the other retailer, do they have an online presence you could link to the item?

It's pretty clear Never Knowing Undersold is just marketing talk, because if they were being undercut they would automatically reduce their prices, rather than having individuals quote a competitors offer.

    RGB direct
    http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk/Products/Television/3D-LED-TV/LG/65UF860V

    PCR Direct
    http://www.prcdirect.co.uk/details.php?nrd=1&product_url_id=65UF860V&source=wbg

Both offer the same TV £1489.00 as opposed to
    John Lewis £1799.00

Both have Brick n mortar store, free delivery, include 5 yr warranty but John Lewis refuse as PCR will charge you the delivery fee if you cancel once they have dispatched it and RGB charge a return delivery fee if you change your mind and want to return it.
Funny how the 'Never Knowingly Undersold' doesnt seem to have a section which includes '... and returns/not home for delivery' section.

Maybe I'm missing something but both those links show the 5 year warranty as a £406 extra. Add that to the TV price of £1489 which totals £1895.
At John Lewis the TV is £1799, £70 for 5 year warranty comes to £1869, a saving of £26.

The LG warranty covers less than the John Lewis guarantee, I'm surprised they haven't rejected it on those grounds. However if you want to try elsewhere Richer Sounds offer a price match guarantee along with a six year guarantee.

Having read the terms and conditions of one of those sites I think I would rather pay £300 more to buy it from JL

If you are happy with their terms why not buy it from them?

Sounds like you want the best of both worlds, the security and terms that JL offer but at the price the other offers.

DuWolf, I know this isn't the point of your thread, but why don't you just buy from either RGB Direct or PRC Direct?

All the companies above come with a 5 year warranty (Registering directly with LG) JL is offering the same.
We have a local RS so am going round tomorrow to see if they will price match but all the warranties are the same length.

JL & RS are local to me so prefer to go .. pay .. take it home. But if RS wont live up to their price promise I will order from one of the others.
Rakuten are offering £75 instore credit making it effectivly £1406.00 so options are available.

... then its sitting waiting ...

tbh the thread was more about making people aware that John Lewis are deny claims on missed delivery terms .... returns policy ... colour of the shops curtains ... if your wearing brown shoes when you order online etc

    ;)
