  • In my case TalkTalk's form from their home page accepted my existing number and later their sales person did not think it was a number issue.

I suspect you will find that coercion to change your number is not permitted. I wonder what the regulator would say about this? Perhaps Emma would care to comment.
  • Too late now, their missed sale.

    Cheers Madcow
  • I noticed earlier this afternoon that the link on the MSE page has been changed to point directly to TalkTalk rather than uSwitch.

For the most part this now works. However:

1 - I am at my father-in-law's house where he has agreed to pay for broadband for his visiting relatives to use so I set it up in his name with his bank details etc. He was 100 last year and this caused TalkTalk to reject him because it has a policy of not accepting customers over 100 years old. I resolved this with the minimum change possible. Will he be disconnected in a few years when the TalkTalk computer thinks he has reached 100? Another one for Emma to look at.

2 - After that all went well until what I think was intended to be the final confirmation button. After hitting it the next page started downloading - 65 minutes later it was still downloading - my browser was still accepting further page items having already got up to over 600. I did a browser forced quit as I could find no other way to stop it. I am not sure if this was an isolated malfunction or if others get sent so many supporting items. If so perhaps Emma may like to consider the impact this has on those signing up over a 3G link - it has probably exceeded January's data allowance. Can I assume my actions will not stop us getting the £100 voucher?

An unexpected bonus was free 24/7 calls for the first 3 months. Now I wonder if they will try to collect the £7.50 a month for this boost after the 3 months? I hope not as I don't want to pay it. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the extra info Neville, I've reported this to our sales team to make sure they are aware of the problem and asked that they work with uSwitch to resolve the problems.

    Thanks

You may wish to look at the subsequent issues above and also the following:

1 - On 13 January I received an order confirmation email from TalkTalk
which said: "You can now use My Account to follow your order". So far
all attempts to track my order via My Account have failed.

2 - I spent some time looking at the TalkTalk web site which has some
pages saying that complaints can be sent by email. However, none of the
links I followed had an email address or web form. All I could find were
premium rate phone numbers which are free from TalkTalk phones - clearly
not free for new customers whose lines have not yet been activated.

  • I would be more impressed if TalkTalk were to fix their IT problems.

It would improve customer relations and reduce the number of people doing Google searches for 'email Dido'.
