I have a Tesco internet savings account and a instant access account - but only the former appears on line.

Can you also add the instant access account - as their website implies - and how do you do it as their internet banking only seems to allow you to add credit cards?

Would be keen to use both Tesco accounts to provide 2 of the 4 DDs - so would be useful to know.

Have just set one up along with the Internet saver for a family member and both are visible online. Maybe calling them to get them to add it under your user login for the Internet saver would be easiest if there is not a way of doing this online.

    Edit: Ignore. See below posts.

Just to let you know that you need 4x DD already on the account before they'll even let you join the reward programme.

I had no DDs on my account when I registered for the rewards earlier this week. Also, new applicants will be able to register during the application for a brand-new account which by definition doesn't have any DDs.

You probably just caught a confused CS operative.

I didn't really think it was correct at the time. I phoned back this morning and was told the same as yesterday (need DDs on account) but a quick escalation to the manager resolved it. Now registered.

It's so frustrating / infuriating when you get landed with some ill-informed CS operative who thinks they can just make it up as they go when, in reality, they don't know the answer to a customer's question. It's great to see you had the stamina to get some sense out of them eventually. Keep standing up for your entitlements.
  • Thanks for this OP. I've added 2 DDs from my co-op current account to my Tesco savings accounts to take me up to 4 DDs and that's me sorted.
It took me 7 minutes on the phone, but at least a couple of minutes was me failing to navigate the automated phone menu :o
Are they definitely Direct Debits as Standing Orders do not qualify and usually that is how you fund a savings account.

I doubt anybody is going to do 30 transactions/month just for £1.50 unless they're using it as their main account (i.e. losing out on interest from other accounts). Just imagine how !!!!ed you'd be if the person in front of you at the only nearby ATM was taking out £300, £10 at a time
ATM withdrawals do not count the system can and does differentiate between the two types of transactions.

The advisor should have had all the details to hand but it does clearly state on the website the requirements in order to qualify just go to the website.

Absolutely definitely Direct Debits. Tescos savings accounts are about the only ones (AFAIK) which let you set up Direct Debits, which is why they are so popular around these forums. I already use these saving accounts to provide direct debits for my Halifax and Lloyds accounts and it works fine :)

    http://www.tescobank.com/savings/flexible/internet-saver/index.html
Under the Making Deposits tab it states: "You can set up a regular Direct Debit or Standing Order, if you like seeing your savings stacking up neatly."

The T&Cs don't specify the direct debits have to be to different accounts or organisations. They simplay say at least four Direct Debits must be paid...
The system will be able to tell if they are the same item and will not payout and if they are Standing orders they do not qualify either.

I have corrected myself further down.
