I thought my cold was on the way out, but its determined to hang around for a bit longer.
I would have gone on the Healthy Living walk first thing, but decided with this rotten cold I would do myself more harm than good.
I read yesterday that if you slice an onion and place on the bottom of your feet then wear some socks when you go to bed, it can help with a lingering cold. No idea if it works but would it be worth a try?2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Wrote a really long post but thought better of it..... In short i wanted to say, i dont think ive had one successful relationship.
Thats probably why i prefer to be on my own.
Me too, Judi, me too!
Very soggy again today in Essex. Been up to see to the chickens and could have done with a snorkel and flippers.
Hoping against hope that the snow stays away from us for the weekend as we are having our family Christmas. With my parents being a two hour drive north and my sister and her family being a three hour drive south, we find it difficult to get together around the 25th because my children and my niece all belong to step-families too plus they have boyfriends/girlfriends families to visit.
Am spending the day making four cushions for the kitchen chairs. Just a simple square pattern with ties on the back. Shouldn't take long.
Still got some lovely beef stew left over from yesterday so will serve that up again, probably with dumplings, for dinner.
I have a fairly quiet week planned. With RA, I have to 'pace myself' so after a busy weekend, I generally plan a few quiet days pottering.
Any 'Archers' fans here? How many more times can Helen say 'sorry' to people? That's very sad, Judi.0

Not much wrong with our relationship really, been married 30 years this year, but if I anything happened to hub, I wouldn't want to get married again/live with someone. Not out of any sense of loyalty to him, but because I learned quite late on in life that I can be quite happy in my own company and own space.[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Afternoon all,
Yes very sad about David Bowie. Not a huge fan but grew up in his era so it's making me feel old.
Dad's accoutrements for the bungalow arrived today and have been fitted where need be. The OT is pleased he can wash himself, he now needs to walk much, much more and do the kitchen stuff. I think he quite likes it where he is: lots of visitors and an all inclusive menu!
Off to the second of DH's Diabetes class tonight. Quite looking forward to it.
Have a lovely evening all.0 -
Managed to get the shuttle bus so I could get to the other end of town and get to solicitor and post office to drop off documents.
Slept really well last night so feel much brighter. The supermarket has just reopened today after the flood so got bacon, chicken, low fat mince and beef escalopes as well as fruit and veg.
Made a big pot of chicken and veg soup and have enough fresh food in for the next few days even if I end up cooking for most of the family. It is starting to get quite cold here so will probably have an early night and get snuggled down.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

I so agree that sometimes in life you have to walk away for your own wellbeing and for those around you . I did it years ago and it was the best choice ever .
I always think of the doctor talking to Nella Last on the train stuck outside Bolton ( the t v version ) "Get out or go under " We know Nella never did but sometimes you just have to .

I just had a real shock, I hadn't yet heard of David Bowie's passing.
I was always a fan - still really love his music.
Families - I don't have any (estranged) and I never knew Mr LW's parents; his Dad passed many years ago, and his Mum passes a couple of months before I met him. He has told me they'd both like me though, for the simple reason I make him happy.
If anything happened to Mr LW I don't think I'd be far behind him, tbh. I couldn't even think of another relationship, because no-one could ever replace my beloved; and quite apart from the practical side, I couldn't go on without him, I'd have no motivation to do so.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Ok maybe i ought to rephrase it. I dont think ive had one successful long term relationship.
I wish things had been different but life goes on....
I'm not good at relationships either, which is why I like OH being away so much. If our relationship doesn't survive this absence then I won't be overly sad, disappointed by not sad. I'm never lonely when on my own. Think I have a touch of autism!
As someone once said 'the whole world is queer except thee and me and even thee is a bit odd'!
My day has been more eventful than I expected. Plumber called by early to look at the job, he's a friend and neighbour too so we chewed a bit of fat together for a while and watched the red squirrel frolicking around the back garden too. He can do both jobs and will come in even if I'm not in. Then another neighbour called in as he'd seen the first guy's car and wondered if everything was OK - no water problems. I love living here.
It's rained for most of the day so I've not gone out. I'm saving all the 'outside' chores for tomorrow and get them all done at once. I 'accidentally' ordered four books from Ama+on but second hand ones from the market place. Cost £0.01p each plus £2.80p&p. so no big spend.
Good to hear that you got out Elona. At least the gov has stumped up for both a temporary pedestrian bridge and the cost of repairing the old bridge. AND the head of the Environmental Agency has just resigned, in shame I hope!0
