Ruggedtoast - I wonder if you are as Saintly as you like to consider yourself...

Look at the places middle class 'liberals' congregate; The Fringe and Glastonbury - barely a brown skin in the audience, certainly not many working class.

Not content with being top of the pile, middle class 'liberals' want also to be top of the moral pyramid by speaking for working class and brown people, but meaningfully mixing with them is a bridge too far.

George Orwell was right all along. Class warriors never did like the working class, they just hated the rich even more.

I'm always happy to talk about me but in this case I was offereing you the floor to explain your distain for the ordinary decent people of the UK

Many people know why the people of Liverpool despise the Sun and it's for somewhat unique reasons and not a general comment on Dacre, Murdock etc..
I'm disappointed that you use that example to justify your general distain for the ordinary people of the UK.
So you are disappointed Clapton.................that may give you a slight taste of what it must feel like from my position then to realise the future of our country is now in the hands of similarly confused people as yourself ;)

    I can understand that
the lefties are always embarrassed when their true distain for the working people is clearly exposed: only a few would stoop to using the Hillsborough tragedy to deflect their embarrassment.

Never been too fond of bankers but it does expose the scale of the error we are making:-
Tens of thousands of banking jobs could be lost to continental Europe from next year if ministers do not agree a transitional deal on single market access with the EU, a Lords report on financial services after Brexit is expected to warn.

so another good reason for cutting out immigration

You want to cut immigration because foreigners are spending money and creating employment? :j

in general what do you feel are the best meaures of unemployment

I always like the FTE-equivalents figure. It quite happily accounts for part time, job share, zero hour.

I quite like the German system, where unemployed includes those part timers looking for full time work.

Amazing how the analysts worked all that out, when just a few posts ago the remoaners were stating categorically the figures were fixed.

No-one has said those figures are perfect either. I haven't actually looked at them, but assume they'll be as dodgy as the first set.

you make an excellent case for unlimited immigration : do you really believe that the people of UK would be better off if we had population of 100 million, 200 million, 300 million.... whats your favorite number?
