Sunday 10th January - What Small DFW-Style Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:
Morning guys  hope everyone is having a lovely weekend so far :A rained cats and dogs last night here in the temperate South so hope everyone is ok wherever they are.
Didn't manage to get on the last few days as have been busy and then working in the evening. Today we are going to a friend's for Sunday lunch and are going to catch the bus so we can have a few glasses of wine. Looking forward to it as haven't seen my friend for a couple of months :T
Small things for the day:
* [STRIKE]checked cc statement for spends this month. Need to go through it properly and see where money has been spent as it looks higher than I thought it would be...[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* make a cake to take to friend's. Undecided on lemon drizzle or carrot cake[/STRIKE] decided to go with the tried and tested brownies mmmm
[STRIKE]* load of washing & hang up[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]sweep and mop downstairs floors [/STRIKE]
* clean bathroom using minimal cleaning products
* [STRIKE]freeze portions of irish stew made in the SC yesterday mmmmmm[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]checked ms account & have £70 coming in Jan :T[/STRIKE]
* lo pasta bake for tea this evening
* [STRIKE]checked meal plan for what needs to come out of the freezer tonight for tomorrow's dinner[/STRIKE]
Ok that's all I need to do I think
Yesterday had a disaster with my knitting (the socks) as dgd helpfully pulled out one of the DPNs  was quite difficult with several :eek:dropped stitches :eek: but managed to rescue it
Anyway going to finish my coffee and get on with some of the chores. Have a great Sunday everyone x

Morning DNMS - thanks for the start today. I've really gotten into my knitting and crochet since I started again. I find it very relaxing on the whole, but every single one of the cats likes wool - so it's less relaxing if one of those is about.
Still raining here as well. It was dry for a bit over Friday but started again yesterday morning and is still going. I am grateful we aren't flooded but it is a bit miserable with the constant wet weather.
Today's plans focus mainly on me
:cheesy: make a PAD to moneybox
:cheesy: tutoring this morning
:cheesy: minimise heating use
:cheesy: little spend today, meeting bestie for coffee and a catch up
:cheesy: mark exam questions (now urgent)
:cheesy: portion out the batch cook and store it away
:cheesy: exercise
:cheesy: make time for crochet
:cheesy: get the kids to do something to earn their pocket money
:cheesy: listen to ds read
Have a good day all - I'll be back later :money:Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning all
Thanks for starting the thread DNMS. Hope you have a nice afternoon with your friend
I seem to have been up for ages, as I have had breakfast, fed the dog and hens, emptied the dishwasher and am shortly heading out on the first dog walk, butI guess it is only just over an hour.
List for today:
Dog walks x 2, hopefully there will be a couple of breaks in the rain - it seems to be virtually non-stop at the moment1 down so far, pup now asleep in OH's armchair (looks cute when he is asleep and not getting into mischief)
Use up pate and salad for lunch
Use a strange tin of something called 'Chinese hotpot' which came from Lidls (don't know why I, or more likely DH, bought that, but as we have it, I will use it). I was thinking of stir frying some chicken breast and peppers and having that with it.
Dry washing on airer - I forgot to put it on last night  Not raining so it is out on the line atm :T
Plant out a couple of hyacinths that have finished flowering, if there is a break in the rain, wash out the vases they grew in and put them away.
Go through coat racks in the hall and tidy them - there might be some items that can be added to the CS bag I started yesterday
Sort out a few items to take to my sales unit tomorrow
Any surveys, FPL etc
Sort out postal survey items for the next week Done
Took a black bag out to the pavement / verge and picked up half a bag of rubbishMore than usual because the wind blew a lot of the recycling bins over earlier in the week. The street cleaner doesn't venture this far out of town, and I just don't like looking at it! Some of my neighbours also do this
Well, this isn't much of a list, but all I can think of at the moment - I will check back later and update
Hope everyone has a good day, despite the rotten weather!
PS, Lol at CCL's cats going after he wool while she is knitting :rotfl: How many cats do you have? Thinking about it, my puppy would love to get involved too :rotfl:0 -

PS, Lol at CCL's cats going after he wool while she is knitting :rotfl: How many cats do you have? Thinking about it, my puppy would love to get involved too :rotfl:
There are 6 of them, and wool is the only thing I've ever known that every single one of them will go for. Got in from work one night to find that one (or more) had unravelled a whole ball of wool around the house. They thought that it was a great game while I tried to wind it back into the ball again. Not giving up

Yes, I did - my friend Katie is a superstar. I see her once a week then she gives me a programme to follow at home. Although goodness knows how long I'll be able to afford that if dh doesn't go back to work very soon. Not giving up

Oh DNMS - Glad you recovered your knitting! I remember the feeling' as one of my nephews pulled a similar stunt back when he was about 2 years old.
CCL - My cat is shocking for grabbing yarn. He also goes fishing about in my knitting basket if it's on the floor & removes stuff to play with. This can include balls of wool, a knitting needle, a completed piece of garment or the actual knitting! Worst behaved cat we've ever had.....but very funny & lovely. Can't imagine having 6, but mr f would love it!

Morning everyone
Its raining again, this weather is unbelievable. I wash the kit for DHs footie team so there is nothing for it but to have both airers in use today. The kit was so filthy DH left it outside the back door.
HM pizza for tea, a good chance to use up some leftover bits of chicken and ham that are lurking in the fridge.
It is supposed to stop raining later so our plan is to declutter the shed and greenhouse. We have a skip from refitting our bathroom and it is being collected tomorrow.
I think I will light the woodburner rather than putting the heating on. Oh and I might make some soup for lunch.0 -
