Are The Forum Team being "Heavy-handed" in removing posts?

Oh yes, I'm well-aware of that - which is why the above puzzles me so much.
Because the more that even SOME visitors become dissatisfied with a website, the less visitors that site will start to get.

There are already comments about the "unfriendliness" of MSE Forums on sites as diverse as mothering websites; technical computing websites; and motoring websites - and that is BEFORE you consider competitor sites.

Why then can (or is) nothing be done to IMPROVE these forums when "niggles" are evident?

The 'new' format is a prime example.

Feedback was requested when the new style was first introduced and then that feedback was totally ignored and very few changes were made before it was rolled out to new members and existing members that were not bothered or could not revert back to the old style.

This may be a Forum but not as we know it Captain :rotfl:

And it looks awful even on a 19" screen.

So you can imagine what it looks like on a 24" or wider screen.

Disagree with much of that.

I happily use the links from MSE to buy all sorts of products and services, I figure that they provide us with this platform, and that has to be paid for somehow.

But I also think that the deletion of threads and comments is often heavy handed and that censoring posters for such vague concepts as "tone" or "unkindness" has very little consistency.

And while we're on that topic... to many of us the debate and discussion boards on MSE are far more relevant to personal finances and the core mission of the site than the MSE team appear to give them credit for.

The knowledge I have gained there has made or saved me thousands of pounds since I joined.

Pretty sure I'm not alone in that regard...

There are different forum teams, one of which does seem to remove innocuous posts without reading them.
