  • I have it working with an LG GM360 and my sister has hers working with a nokia she bought, but would not work with 3. She thinks it is a ce0168, bought a few years ago.

My dad is 81 years old and needs the mobile just to call us or a taxi when he is away from home. He can't drive anymore so just needs it when he's out and about.

If EE signal is fine in his area, get him a Doro phone with Delight SIM.

I would get the https://www.anywheresim.com sim then with UK roaming between 3 networks, save any stress on him or yourselves that a signal will be available most places.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

So does that mean the Delight sim will work on a 2 g phone? We were looking at the basic Nokia or Samsung but they weren't 3G so we're trying to find something else.

Delight will work in a 2g phone.

    A Three sim will not.

Get a couple of unlocked Nokia 1100's from EBay, get a couple of Delight sims, then you can phone your dad for free, and vice versa.

A Nokia 1100 is easy to use, only had one button to do everything, answer, hang up, send texts, make calls. No green and red button to answer and hang up. Also will last a week between charging up.

    Cheers fj
  • Tesco have PAYG phones in store for £6.99 and although their regular tariff is 25p a minute you can switch to their Lite tariff at 8p a minute - I use it and credit does not expire until you have used it all up, they use the O2 network.

can't find anything about this on their website. i can find the sim card for 99p but it says there are only two tariffs 'standard' (25p/min) and 'Triple credit' (which is all bundles etc)...?

    Try this:-

  • Zoothornrollo - Castle has got it in one!
Lite tariff is hard to find on Tesco's website but anyone who wants to switch to Lite tariff and has a Tesco PAYG account on their website already can switch tariffs easily through their PAYG account.
If you do this though it may be best to do it when your credit is low as I'm not sure if it carries over to the new tariff selected.
  • thanks all - have ordered one

All I can say is that I carefully ran down my O2 credit, switched to Tesco Lite, and the 25p was still there after I topped up £10.
    Move along, nothing to see.
