Tbh I think you'll find that the cheap budget phones won't be suitable for an older person, they'll have small screens and fiddly buttons, a phone better suited is likely to cost over £50 ie http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00A4FOH3W/ref=twister_B00H9A7I5E?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

However, one can't "use a three 321 SIM" in this phone like you suggested.

Have look at the DORO range.

(Even my O H can handle one of them)

Doro phones won't work with three .

I have just changed to them and have bought a lumia 435 .

PAYG Vodafone handsets bought with a £10 topup are automatically put on a bundle without requesting in CPW. You can get Vodafone to re-credit it and remove the bundle but was lots of hassle.

Sure? Can you find this online at CPW and post a link?

My elderly dad needs a mobile phone with a PAYG sim. We have been to Carphone warehouse and he can get a basic phone for free with a sim but the sim top up expires after 30 days.

We can buy a basic phone for him online if we have to but we want to know if it's possible to get a PAYG top up which doesn't expire. He doesn't need data just minutes and texts.

Pam Vodafone payg rates are expensive https://www.vodafone.co.uk/explore/costs/call-charges/

If its Voda you need get its sister payg sim for 10p calls for upto an hour https://www.TalkMobile.co.uk

EE reseller Delight and 3 have 3p a minute calls.

What model handset are you looking for ? Is it one of the Doro-esque easy to use handsets?
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

    Thanks for all the information.
The CPW I quoted was for a bundle and we know he won't use anywhere near the number of minutes included.
We looked at the 3 2 1 option with Three and for the amount he would use the phone it looks like a good option but they say the sim only works with a 3G phone. So we are looking for a compatible phone for that sim.

  • I'd second the Delight option. I was going to get a 3 sim for the phone I use for my charity work, but as it was not 3g, that would not work. Someone on here mentioned Delight and their rates are the same.
Easy to join and setup. I put £10 on a few months ago and checking it today still have £8.30 :-)

So does that mean the Delight sim will work on a 2 g phone? We were looking at the basic Nokia or Samsung but they weren't 3G so we're trying to find something else.

Delight Mobile is EE MVNO. Why would it not work with a 2g phone?

Yes, dont know how old your dad is or if he is actively mobile but check out my thread with the roaming on three different UK networks, obviously its 3 times more expensive per minute at 10p but reassurance over always having coverage is worth it for both you.
