Saturday 9th January - What Small DFW-Style Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

I'm just off to bed but before I go thought I'd kick-start the thread again. Didn't quite finish yesterday's list. I'm contemplating what I'd like to do when my mobile is due an upgrade next month. I think I might just get a similar phone again. I like the phone I l have so I don't need a more expensive one. We had a Chinese delivered for dinner but financed it from our entertainment budget.

    * Clean outside of car.

    * Chase up missing £30 gift voucher code.

    * Shop around for new sunglasses for my birthday.

    * Find something entertaining to do on what'll probably be a snowy day.

    * Re-instate bird table which was relegated to the hut/shed in high winds and use up some of the bird food we're hoarding.

    * Use face-mask I got for Decemberfest.

    * Build gingerbread house left over from Decemberfest.

    How about you lovely people?

Morning all, thanks for starting us off Ally. Very healthy looking Aus fund :D :hello: to all that follow

Crazy busy week, so glad it's Saturday although small was up early :( anyway, all snuggled on sofa at moment, so time to think about the day ahead:
Washing on at 30, will do another load or 2 after, dry on airer
Try and do run now I'm feeling better/ have time
Packed lunched to dancing for us all
    Meals from stores
Go and pick new floor for bathroom, previous one we picked was too thick when they tried to fit it
    Quick tidy round
Check £co one payment was saying it's due to be available today
PAD to cc, made a couple yesterday, mainly from a couple of savings I had made, good start to month
Look at more survey sites - anyone got any favourites?
Take basket back we bought for a unit that doesn't fit.

Think that's all, have a good day everyone. :)
  • Morning all, thanks for starting Ally

Poochy has an upset tummy so I've been up twice in the night to take her out. Absolutely shattered!
I still need to give the car a quick hoover as didn't manage it last night - then off to the MOT (fingers-crossed)
Food shop today so not a NSD but we'll do a list beforehand and batch cook something
Maybe a trip to the cinema tonight using unlimited cards if I'm not already asleep!
Pick up another packet of RSVP cards for the wedding. Pop into work to print off information sheets to go in with the invites... ssshhh don't tell anyone! If my conscience gets the better of me I'll pay for these on Monday
Watch the darts semi-finals this afternoon
    Catch up on some surveys
    Read book

    Have a fab day everyone

    Hi everyone

Got visitors this weekend - eating in though so no crazy spends hopefully. ;)

Played with YNAB - seeing where the ends don't quite meet...! Eye opening

Sorting out gas/elec tariff - didn't get round to it yesterday as didn't have meter readings. Thought I may as well wait so it's more accurate.

Big dog walk in the rain. :A

    Catch up soon everyone.
  • Good morning all - happy weekend!!! :j:j So pleased to have survived the first week back, although Saturday never feels like a break when the kids clubs are on. I have to confess that I've enjoyed a couple of weekends without being dragged here, there and everywhere for kids activities.
Woken before 6am thanks to particularly restless cats this morning  but I'm up and about and trying to encourage dh into routine for the weekend.
Thanks for the start Ally :D
    Here's today's list
    check banking and PAD
 do at least one thing from the annoying list
    get ds to football
 get both kids to gymnastics
 get me and dh to hospital appointment this morning
    do some crochet
    do some exercise
 mark a set of exam questions
 hoover again (how has it gotten so dirty in here since 7pm yesterday?)
 plan the big batch cook
 look on food rescue for recipe ideas
    make time for relaxing
    See you later everyone :hello:

Need to keep dh away from the mugs, he always buys mugs when we go!!

  • Morning!

I'm a bit nervous about staying in control today. We're away for the night tonight at a gorgeous hotel called Gotham in Manchester. Which is a lovely present from my sister so the hotel and meal are paid for. BUT we will get drinking with dinner and I know I'm as bad as my OH that once I've had a couple of cocktails I'll want to carry on :o Hopefully we can keep it within the £60 budget we set for ourselves! This afternoon we're going shopping as well, but we're spending some vouchers we got for christmas so shouldn't be spending.

    Have a lovely day everyone!
