    Morning all :)
Thanks for today's start Ally :)
Another wet, miserable day here. I was up late this morning (after 8am, which is really late for me :o) so OH did the hens and dog walk #1 during a temporary lull in the rain :T

Plenty left for me though, as he is now busy with one of his projects:

No heating on downstairs, but will light the wood burner later on

Used half a leftover apple from fridge with my breakfast porridge :)

Put beef, onion and mushrooms in SC to make pie filling. When done I will mix in a little crumbled leftover stilton and make small pies in ramekins, topped with puff pastry lids. I should be able to make quite a few from the on offer pack of stewing beef I bought yesterday, and will freeze any extra ones :T Normally I would make one big pie, and although it would last 2 days if only the 2 of us, I thought this way might make us eat less, which is our joint New Year's resolution. It will also save money if I can make 4 meals for the two of us instead of the usual 2 from the same ingredients :D

Search for extra ramekins which will be in a box somewhere

Sort out airing cupboard and put clothes away

Tidy at least one drawer - peferably the one I keep tights and socks etc in. I have recently taken to wearing dresses / skirts instead of jeans. This is due to it being easier to slip my wellies on to go out into the garden in the constant wet weather rather than a random and uncharacteristic attack of femininity:rotfl: It has also had the added advantage of using up the vast collection of black opaque tights left over from my working days :):)

Sort out some stained and grotty tea towels for OH's workshop (only fruit stains from jam / jelly making but they look horrible :o ), first cutting off the hanging tapes from them, and then sewing these on to some other tea towels that are little used because they have no hanging tapes. I will not buy any again which don't have the tapes, but will use these ones rather than buying new for now :money:

    Post a birthday card

Leftovers from last night's pasta dish for lunch

    Any surveys, FPL etc

    Aiming for a NSD :D

    Another dog walk later

Right, I have been lazy for long enough, better get on.

Hope everyone has a good day :)
  • Morning everyone

Enjoy the night away Debbie. Just make sure that you have £60 between you in cash and no more!

Been doing the spreadsheets. Need to be really careful because we may have more vets bills to come. Quiet day today, not really planning on going anywhere so shouldnt need to spend anything!

    Minimal heating

Must dash as we need to leave

  • Sorry you feel rubbish Pace
Debbie I agree with Yorkshire, just have the £60 on you and no more! Have a great evening though :)

So thankfully the car passed the MOT with only a couple of advisories. The garage also waived the fee as they're friends with my OH :D I don't usually like not paying for things like that but at the moment it is very appreciated. It means I've moved £400 of Christmas/ birthday money into the wedding pot so signature has been updated :j

I'm going to hoover before going out to get last of wedding RSVPs. Ironing will need attempting later too along with walking poochy up the hill

  • Afternoon all,
I am really sorry if I upset anyone yesterday with the wedding dress/baby post. It wasn't my intention at all xx
So, last night I started a conversation with DH re not spending any money.
Today it is not quite a conversation any more as I notice more and more new things round the house...
    Today
:) take No 2 daughter to the bank to set up a savings account to stash her fundraising money for her Guide trip to Finland.
:) swap No 4 daughter's bank account to no longer in trust and order her a bank card
:) swap by own savings account to an e-saver paying more interest
:) washing on so I can hang it on the rails now that the guests have gone
:) all meals from the cupboard today
All the Smalls' activities start up today but I have DH doing the running about whilst I put the tree away and clean up

    My small things today are:

    1) Do washing on economy wash and then dry using dri buddi. It warms flat at same time so heating off.

    2) Added Amazon gift cards received today to balance
    3) Checked current Curry's gift card balance
    4) Checked Nectar card balance
    5) Checked Boots advantage balance, then added offers to card. Have contact lenses with Boots so get 10% off their own brand products too (value and premium)
    6) Checked Topcashback balances
    7) Checked bank accounts and made necessary transfers
    8) Submitted this month's meter readings for my gas and electricity
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

    Afternoon folks,

    Happy Saturday :j:j:j:j:j

I've not been round much - it is so busy at work and I'm not sleeping very well so quite often I don't even put the PC on

    Today I have/will:
    • checked online banking - the aa money is still there....not too sure why they have refunded me
    • checked investment - I've lost a bit, but never mind
    • skipped breakfast - i was running late meeting a friend
    • lunch and dinner from stores
    • met my friend in town for a bit of a natter - well worth the cost of 4 coffees (she is retired and doesn't have that much spare cash
    • hubster dropped me off in town
    • i was going to buy yet more material.....then decided against it
    • i decided against buying another lottery ticket for tonight - if i am supposed to win i should win on 1 ticket
    • walked home from town - it is only a 20 min walk and quite pleasant
    • i had to shower when i got home as i looked a right mess
    • need to get cracking with some sewing - i am running out of clothing for work and the gym
    • read papers online
    • checked on my eBay sales

Think that's about it for me :D

    Take care all

    Hi

Woke late with a headache. Went out and felt better almost straightaway. Then over did it, but was so worth it. In 3 hours I:
    Mucked out chickens
Chopped down half of the autumn raspberries
Tidied up a small area of brambles on the yard
Gave the puppies a much needed run
Fed the birds, seeds, fatballs and peanuts.
Decided I had slightly overdone it. Came in and DD made me beans on toast, then showered and had a nap.
Have now made chicken and leek mixture for pie later and cooked 3 chicken breasts for DS and DD to have with salad. DD is frantcically revising and DS has had a hand operation that is healing nicely but worryingly he is returning to milking cows tonight. I am keeping my fingers crossed he does not get it infected. He will be wearing 2 sets of gloves, but still!

I have had the most lovely day. Not a NSD,as have bought my friend her birthday present on ebugs today. Ready for april, but I often forget. So I am super organised now. i also need to call in SM after church to get ready puff for pie and also bread and bacon. Heres hoping I can resist everything else?????

Have a lovely saturday night everyone.

    Maria

I was thinking about what 100% free software I've been using for at least a year each and can be relied upon. Here's a quick round-up:

Picasa: Free and simple photo editing software. Can also be used to turn your photos into a slide show with music in video format that works rather well with Facebook. (Link)

AVG Anti-Virus: Protects your computer from viruses and malware. (Link)

OpenOffice: Use instead of Microsoft Office. It takes up less space than M.O. and is less vulnerable to cyber attacks. You can still use it to open Microsoft Office files and you can save in Microsoft formats.elememts you want to download so if you are never going to use the Database element you don't have to install it. You can also chose which (Link)

Sticky Notes: Free digital Post-It Notes for your computer's desktop. (Link)

IceDragon: A lightweight browser made by Firefox. It's a very small program that doesn't take up too much memory but behaves almost exactly like Firefox.
It scans web-pages for malware right from the browser so it will tell you if you are about to go into a dodgy website so you can avoid doing so.(Link)
