Washing Hair Everyday

  • My hair is quite short, very thick & wavy. It's coarse, too, and takes a bit of styling. I wash it pretty much every day that I intend to leave the house! It doesn't seem to do any harm, and is still shiny. On the days that I don't wash it, my scalp feels yuk.

I used to be Starrystarrynight on MSE, before a log in technical glitch!

I wash my hair every other day. Only time I had gone longer than this was at festivals, when I tried batiste dry shampoo, but as others have said made my hair itchy.

Then my hairdresser gave me a free sample of Redken Hair Pillow Proof - 2 day extender, and it was so good I now buy it and not just for festivals, I sometimes go an extra day between washes. It's a lot more expensive than batiste, but worth a try - no itching.

Try SLS/Sulphate free shampoos and conditioner as well.

  • I have the same problem. I've just returned from a fortnight's holiday abroad where my hair was SO much better and only needed washing every two or three days (it usually looks greasy within 24 hours). So I think it might be a hard water/soft water thing. As an experiment I'm giving my hair a final rinse with filtered water from now on, to see if things improve.
