Prepare for half an hour to an hour of your life that you will never get back (make a brew before you start ... possibly a flask :D) - they have the worst application process of any bank I have dealt with as they make you apply on the phone or in branch and insist on reading out tonnes of informative (that you could easily read online or when they send you it!). That said, worth the effort for £150 .

    Good luck!

afternoon all - a culinary emergency - is anyone around to advice :D

I've just been to make the Yorkshire pudding batter and realised I am out of flour totally. I had a betty crocker pancake mix in the cupboard so I've made this in a jug with a bit of extra water and a spoon of baking powder. I always let the mixture stand and then give it another whisk before I put it in the oven

but is this mixture going to rise or not - obviously its an out of date mix :D

you just need water with these mixes and no eggs?

the worst of it is that I've just done a sweep of the supermarkets but my head is still full of cotton wool and the lack of flour never occurred to me.

This page shows which accounts allow Post Office pay in and other services:

    http://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-banking-services

Current Cashback offers for TSB £100, Yorkshire £150, various others. There is an article on the right/above from MSE with full details - it will require an account switch and closure of an existing account to get the Cashback.

Each has there benefits - personally I have FD, NatW, NW x2, Hali x3, Yorkshire, TSB x2, M&S, Santander, Lloyds, and a few more, mostly as I chase the Cashback deals and interest - others will have even more :). fD is my main account though and rarely make any changes to that.

I seem to think you can deposit cheques for First Direct at the post office as well ????
I did a switch to First Direct last year for the MSE offer of £125 and it also meant I could get the monthly savings account.
When the first anniversary came up all I had to do was ring them up to start a new monthly saver and the original one was closed and the balance put into my current account.
it needs £1000 a month from an external account but as soon as it goes in I just switch it back to my savings and it shifts back within 2 hours
Everything I've done with First Direct has been over the phone, very quick and simple

Does it say anything about eggs on the packet? x

Or you could serve savoury pancakes with your main?

Good evening. Are they still visible to order for you and others online? I had them in my basket but all went unavailable earlier :(.

Good luck if you can order - I have missed these and candles this past week or so as I delayed ordering and then it wouldn't let me order :I.

Reading these posts about difficult decisions reminds me of one of my fave books , Richard Wiseman's 59 seconds.

It's a self-help book based on research with bite-sized summaries; useful and fascinating, and devoid of waffle. Well worth a read.
