Don't forget to look in the Land of Pound. I got a lovely book from there today that will be my holiday reading (The Burning Girl by Erin Kelly - guess how much it cost :D) Can't buy them in a Charity Shop for that price and I don't like taking library books on my hols.

The Burning Air I think you mean, I read that a few years ago and liked it.:) Good tip, I didn't realise the £ shop even sold books.:A

Just finished 'While My Eyes Were Closed' by Linda Green which I really enjoyed, had to read it quickly to see if the little girl was safe!

Saw your post and thought I must look out for that one. Then realised you were talking about Linda Green and not Linda Grant:o( who is a big favourite of mine)

I haven't read anything by Linda Green yet so will see if there's anything by her in the library.

Yes, you're absolutely right....brain fog set in, sorry!
I loved "A Thousand Splendid Suns", still on my shelf ready to be read again in the future. Also enjoyed "The Kite Runner" but maybe not quite as much.
    Normal people worry me.

I was getting stuck into an eye-opening read yesterday, about 1/3 of the way through when I put it down and to my annoyance left it behind!:

Well I finished this today, and was very pleased I have! Although I didn't agree with the authors' choice not to act more decisively in advance or to keep the family for secret so long, the way she was forced to live in fear all her married life was just terrible. The last 100 pages were a particularly fast read. When I finished I felt cross that for pre-meditated murder and all the lies, deception and wilful cover-ups, life does not actually mean life. Justice was most definitely not served. 8.5/10.

Hope is not a strategy :D...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Another vote for "A Thousand Splendid Suns here" :)

I'm just about to start "Faceless" by Alyssa Sheinmel. I wouldn't normally choose this book, but it fits the 'young adult bestseller' category in my reading challenge.

Hello, I'd love to join into your discussion. I got interested in an author mentioned up thread, Donna Leon, so I went and checked out four of her books from our library. Love crime novels and she is a new author for me.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I've read almost all of his books,:) they are almost like watching a film when you read them. You've reminded me that I have The Stranger on my kindle that I haven't got around to reading yet.

I finished Piranha by Clive Cussler and Boyd Morrison. A very enjoyable, not to be taken seriously book. It's the latest book in the "Oregan Files" series - I have read the others. This is the first one written with Boyd Morrison. Boyd writes books alone and I have read and enjoyed all of them. One of the characters he writes about appears briefly in Piranha.

Clive Cussler has written lots of books although these days they are all written by him and another author. James Patterson does the same which explains how he has so many books published every year. I suspect Cussler writes very little of the books now - he's became a "brand" that people buy just because his name is on the cover regardless of who actually wrote the story.

I read and really enjoyed his early Dirk Pit novels. I stopped reading when Dirk's now grown up children (that he didn't know existed) turned up out of the blue. Twins they are the spitting image of their parents and named after them too  I found the whole idea absurd and haven't read any since.

I tried reading Serpent the first of the NUMA Files novels but it read like a poor copy of the early Pitt novels so I haven't read anymore.

I think I'll stick to reading the Oregan Files novels. The next one is also being written by/with Boyd Morrison so should be good.

I'm now reading Extinction by D J Molles, the final book is his "The Remaining" series.
I want to finish it to find out what happens but that means I've finished the series and there are no more books. Maybe I'll read it slooowly
