I realise this isn't everyone's thing, but I've kitted my little one out for school entirely from local charity shops - not only cheap, but recycling too, rather than buying new shirts etc that come with inserts and useless hanger-things!0

I wish there was a charity shop near me with a school uniform section - I would have no problem kitting DD out with items from there.
I popped along to M&S but the sale wasn't really sale. At least not in the children's dept! I did pick up some £6 2pack tights though BOGO1/2price which came up to £9.
I also popped into Whsmith and picked up the backpack advertised on the telly at £1.97 so well chuffed with that.
Popped into Woolworths and got a value long sleeved shirt and a value skirt for £1.50 and £3 respectively.
Rounded off the day in Primark (I hate the place but don't mind buying socks and knickers for DD from there) and picked up school socks and vest packs for around £5 total.
Just waiting for my school wear order from Debenhams online to arrive and we are truly set for school starting on Wednesday! On that note I must say I much prefer doing the school shopping online as it is so hassle free and even with p+p as worked out cheaper

and while on this subject, a lot of schools have 'pre-used' uniforms for sale in school, if they don't volunteer this info, ask, also some sell uniform items at school fetes. Charity shops local to schools can be goldmines for uniformsOoh, I've gotta little star! What's that for then?!!0 -

I know im not the only one who has a small daughter and struggles with clothes i just wish they would make them a little smaller. Also big gripe with tesco atm. I bought her a pack of blue polo t-shirts as that is part of her uniform age 4-5 they drown her..... bought the plain white ones in the same size for PE and they barely fit my 2 yr old. Its madness i tell thee madness lol

hi my twins are tiny and had to have their official school jumpers speically made small enough, i have found the best places for school uniform for my daughter is adams for trousers they do age 3 years which is the equivalent to ade 2-3 years with adjustable waist, also matalan do age 3 (same again 2-3) skirts and these come up tiny, also next sometimes do some tiny bits aswell. My daughter is now going back for her second year in the same age 2-3 year trousers as she has still not grown.
hope that helps a bitIf you want the rainbow you have to go through the rain.

will deff try next though as thats probably the one place i havent yet looked. thank u so much for your help.

My daughter (11 nearly 12) is soooo skinny its really hard to get skirts/ trousers to fit and as the other poster said adjustable waists stop at age 10.
Argos have offers on school bags (branded) for older kids, eg Nike gymsack for £4.99.

Alas, we have a very specific uniform for my DD's new school here...unless anybody has seen a cheap source of GOLD blouses anywhere (ie dark yellow, not the sort that glitters!) we will just have to pay the £9.99 per blouse demanded by the proper uniform shop.
(And no, it's not a private school....)0
