It's that time of year again, you've survived the school holidays unscathed but now you need to send the kids back to school with new books, uniforms and stationery.
So I thought I'd tap MoneySavers' knowledge to find where to get the cheapest bits and bobs needed for school.

Dear dear, back to school thread and looking for "staitionary"! In my days we used stationery! You are definitley not unscathed by your school holidays!
Great thread though and for all new year 7 prospective parents, one hint is to hold fire on calculators as schools often do a group purchase and can get them cheaper than you can in the shops. It is unlikely your son/daughter will need one the first few weeks of term.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Click on words Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Newbie thread is the first post. Blue New Thread button is just above it to left.0 -
Another poster (BT) mentioned recently in a different thread that WH Smith have many clearance offers instore and on their website. There were calculators, folders, paper and all sorts of other goodies in my local store.
They also have many basic items on a 3 for 2 offer such as erasers, pencils, etc.
There is a 200 points bonus voucher available when you spend over £5 (again, thanks to saving-mad the original OP and to adaadat for the reminder) Click here for the voucher0 -
In Woolworths now they have lots of school uniform clothing reduced to £1!!
I picked up some grey pinafore dress reduced from £10 to £1 each. They also had a huge amount of white and blue double packs of shirts for £1, grey school trousers and grey skirts.
Obviously this is not their entire school range but certainly well worth a visit.
Out of interest the Woolworths I have seen it in are Torquay and Paignton.:T Benjamin has won!!! Am soooo proud. Thank you to everyone who agreed my baby was the cutiest. Want to go round and hug everyone who voted, it means so much to me!:A0 -

Tescos have some of their school uniform reduced as i bought my daughter a pay for £4.75 supposed to be £90

we currently have a woolworths clearance store near us so uniform is very cheap if its last years, this 2007 stock is still full price here but for basic black/grey/navy trousers skirts etc... as little as a £1. My daughter is s'posed to have an art set that cost £8 from the school, got all the listed items and a set of various pencils, hb, 2b etc.. for £3.96 from our local 99p shop, asda has gcse calculators from £1.80. so worth popping into there. whsmiths have got a 75% offer on but regular find there stuff overpriced anyway, discounts usually bring it in line with asda & tesco.:rolleyes:Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together."

Bought my daughter school uniform yesterday at BHS. When I got to the till the assisitant told me that I could get a free mini radio and watch set worth £12 for spending over £25 on schoolwear . Available in pink or camouflage (I think). We had the pink one and it's kept my 11 year old daughter quiet ever since. Not sure when offer runs out. This was in Chesterfield store. You may have to ask though - the sign was only on the rack where the set was displayed and I hadn't noticed it.By the way - I have shopped around and although the supermarkets are selling uniform cheaper, the quality and extensive range in BHS is a lot better and as good as Marks and Spencer (though not as expensive). Bought 2 trendy 3/4 sleeve blouses for £4 each, three pair of black trousers for between £5 and £7 each. Careful with sizes and ranges though - they have a generous fit range which was no good for us as my daughter - although average height - is skinny. We had to get her age 10 stuff which luckily fits perfectly.0

sainsburys school uniform has gone down by 20% today, though if you can hang on it usually goes down by 75% after the kids have gone back.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
