Well I am pretty sure multiple current accounts make no difference what so ever....
    2x Halifax
    2x nationwide
    2x TSB
    1x Lloyds
    1x Santander
    1x first direct
    1x Clydesdale
    1x barclays
4x credit cards on zero balance
Just moved into my first place and no issues with credit score/mortgage

@ShawUK: are those current accounts? What do you do with so many and how can you manage them? I can barely manage two :)

A brace of BoS Vantage each would save you £60 a year...if you can be bothered?

Yes and no Yorkshire boy , I'm well aware of the BoS and of course you are correct. We could go for 6 of and lose one of the Santander's . However , when all the regular savers mature next , I will be looking for a home , so in the above scenario , would have to go back to Santander , whereas in the current scenario will go to BoS when the time comes.
  • So is it possible to get the switching bonus by switching from an account that isn't your main bank account?

Care to define 'main bank account'?;)

The account you want to switch does have to be a current account though, and each bank offering a switching bonus will have its own T&Cs which you need to understand & comply with.

Well I now have 3 plus a cash ISA (HSBC)

    1xHSBC
    1x Post Office
    1x Santander

The PO is fault ridden and is proving a long nightmare to sort out. So the Santander is a replacement and as soon as I can close the PO and get my money out, I will do. Followed shortly by a huge party to celebrate lol.

Why don't you switch your Post Office account to someone offering a switching bonus and/or an account with features you find useful, such as 5% interest, cashback etc.

That way you don't have the hassle of 'closing' the PO account, and also gain something :T
