OVO Broadband

  • OVO use talktalk business broadband. The customer service is I think Bristol based and is first class. There was a hitch in transferring me but OVO stuck with me and made it happen. I am now on unlimited fibre up to 40Mb and the line speed achieved is between 25 and 33 Mb.

12 month contract is £38 a month including line rental, caller display and voicemail. There is no TV in the package but I use FreeSat/View and Kodi

They only have one deal for broadband so as an existing customer you do not get new customers joining with better deals

I do not have to speak to talktalk. So the OVO wrap of talktalk business broadband suits me fine and I have all my utilities in one place.

Oh and by the way OVO provide smart meters I never have to read meters and they pay me 3% interest on credit balances for gas and electric. I can withdraw any over-payment whenever I want online and it gets credited to my account within a few days.

    I am happy :T

This will be a resold BT Wholesale product, so I'd expect to find that Plusnet will usually undercut them on price, and of course it runs on the same network.

Not so - it runs on the TalkTalk network, not the BT Wholesale network.
  • One advantage of OVO broadband/phone is that you get 3000 minutes of calls to mobiles for an additional £5 as an option for the phone.

I get almost no signal from any of the mobile companies at home, so using my mobile for those calls doesn't work.

It's going to work out cheaper with OVO, as I'll have far fewer calls outside the allowance.

One other thing is that it's not a promotional price - you don't get a teaser rate, with the real rate written in 5pt text below. I'm bored of having to call BT to renegotiate each year. (And BT don't put the contract end date on your bill or MyBT page. It's rather like many banks not putting it on the account page when you log in. The technology to do so must be still in the future, like time travel and warp drive.)
