PS - here's the latest update on the blocked A83 over the Rest and Be Thankful. Blowing up a boulder time!

  • GERS, re the wild oregano oil, yes, I managed 5 doses of 3 drops in water yesterday! Mr TA says the smell alone would put him off! It really is revolting! The arrowroot (diluted in warm water) is no problem, that's virtually tasteless! If it helps it will be worthwhile!

REDRUBY so sorry things are no better for you. CSARINA I hope your DH is much improved today as you really do need his support on Friday xx

Morning! Hester - it's horrible when people shout at you for no reason, one of the reasons that I am self employed (just shout at DH every so often instead!).

Didn't spend any little bits of money yesterday so claiming it as a NSD! Toddler group wasn't on so went round to a friends instead.

Back to some semblance of normal today - both children back to school and works resumes fairly normally. Going to head to another toddler group this morning - hope it's on as its great and free! Got to have a bit of a plan for this afternoon - might do cooking again. Tonight I'm off to an exercise class and a meeting at my church tonight. Means that I can leave work a bit early, leaving DH holding the fort.

Easy tea for children - pasta and pesto with veg. Family will have a roast chicken - only just got it out of the freezer though so hopefully it will defrost by this afternoon! Going to see if I can do the rubber chicken thing with it!

  • Morning all, damp, dreary, misty morning here in Essex.

DD up and off to school, housework all done, jacket potatoes with tuna and salad for tea tonight so nice and easy.

Off out for the day with mum and dad. Need to get a little bit of shopping, have budgeted £25. Have a £10 m&s voucher that I got from one of the students at christmas so will have a nosey in there. Do love M&S but don't venture in there very often.

Thinking of all of you who have troubles and losses at the moment, never nice at any time but I think this time of year is depressing and difficult enough as it is. I have always disliked january, even though my birthday is this month I always feel flat and down after the hype of christmas.

Right best get ready.....wishing everyone a good day

    Morning everyone,

Foggy and damp here, the dogs really mooched on their early walk so took ages.

Yesterday's appointment went ok but have to go up to the local hospital for bloods so they can check my cholesterol etc, have no problem with needles but people always struggle to find a vein so can end up quite sore, oh well.
Need to get my CV updated today and start looking for some paid work, did see a nice role advertised yesterday so will ring this morning for some more details and see if still available.
It's for a small family firm based not too far away so on paper just what I am looking for, the events of the last few months have put me off large American companies for life!

    Warm welcome to Miss Cleanup

Camelot - sorry to hear your DD's news, fingers crossed she can find something soon.

Also want to send my thoughts and hugs to so many of us who are struggling at the moment, it's certainly been a rough few weeks for this little community, take care everyone xx

I feel like a latecomer with all you early risers. My hub is off quite early, but this time of year I struggle to get up, having Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Hope your problems are all resolving. I'm just trying to get together a routine for MILs hospital visits daily and keep the house and work together as well. Taking a different mindset. Daughter is needing help at the moment. She has CFS/ME and is unable to work. We all have our hands full to some extent or other, don't we?

I'm trying to eat out of the freezer, so got some soup out for my lunch when I get back from today's hospital visit. A long one, as there are 2 appointments to keep. Also a piece of salmon for tonight, got veg to use so an easy meal.

DS in London on an overnight interview thingy. Hoping he is successful. Needs a job! His mate is working for the same company in another part of the country and is happy with them.

  • Morning ((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

OH is a bit improved this morning, he insists he is going on Friday, so we will see. I am waiting for a script from the Dr for him. It seems more or less certain that he has diverticular disease. His diet up to the time I met him was diabolical. His mother used to dose both him and his sister up with some sort of stuff if they did not go to the toilet every day. Both of them have problems with their gut.

We hope to go round to the little chapel for coffee this morning. Will see how he copes with that.

Its very misty this morning, glad we do not have to go into town. Have a visit to the hairdresser tomorrow to get my hair cut, it seems to have grown quite quickly this time, its starting to curl again.

Waiting to hear from the carpet man, we are having a piece of carpet in the hall, in front of the door, replaced with a mat you can wipe your feet on, I should really have had it done that way when we had the carpet laid, the door has a black rubber flange on the bottom which is leaving dirty black marks on the carpet. We had something similar at North View Close, it was very handy especially if someone came in with wet or dirty shoes.

Just had a call from the carpet people they are coming in about 20 minutes, should not take them too long.

mnlc Cheese and potato pie sounds lovely and comforting- how do you make it?

TA I think sometimes we can all feel like that. Sometimes OH accuses me of imagining fluctuations in my weight - he points out I've been wearing the same clothes all this time, but to me the slightest change in fit of clothes or eating habits can make me feel like an elephant or a stick insect!

In any case we are doing dry January as with my old job I was drinking at the wine bar every day  and then having ale on my day off. Hopefully that'll get me back into my skinny clothes :D

ancientofdays Your OH sounds like me! We used to eat out all the time when we met but our priorities have changed and now I can't help but feel annoyed when a meal out could feed us for two weeks :rotfl: He keeps suggesting we go here or there and my response is to try and find a recipe so I can recreate the cuisine myself :rotfl:

It's DDs last day off school today. As she doesn't board she always starts on a Thursday. We need to do a couple of bits to prep for school then I've promised DD we will do a sewing project together. I have a dress that needs finishing (my first ever one!) then I might order another pattern and more fabric for something a bit more challenging.

I've promised OH I'm definitely definitely going to start job hunting tomorrow. Or go back to uni. Or run away and join the travelling circus. The house is virtually perfect, and I've been under budget constantly, which makes a change but with DD at school I will just be twiddling my thumbs all day, and I haven't got the cash to be a lady who lunches!

Phoned to find out if cleaners were able to come sue to the bridge collapse and they can. SIL booked them for every two weeks till the house gets sold as it is so big .

Need to do a quick tidy round as lots of bits from Christmas are around. Washing is on but will need to be dried inside later and dishwasher is loaded.

I have some paperwork for solicitor and to be posted but don;t know if I will be able to catch the shuttle bus in time as I have a friend popping over as well.

I still have a noodle dish to heat up for lunch and hope to get to the butchers later for meat to make a casserole.

  • Morning all,

Waves to Misscleanup - another Essex girl here too!
Hester - 'tits and teeth, love, tits and teeth'!!!
Hugs to all who needs one.

DD is getting on really well at the vet surgery. A bonus (I think:o) is that she gets up at 6.30 a.m. now - so I have to too! It does mean, however, that by 9.00 a.m. the house is tidy, the animals have been fed, the WM is usually on, the dinner prepped and I've checked my emails and banking.

I hosted the U3A 'Threads' group here yesteday. There is something timeless and very comforting about a group of ladies sitting around a table sewing and chatting. Whatever culture or century you look at, it's been going on all around the world ever since cave-women made animal-hide clothes! We were so enjoying ourselves that we were still stitching at ten past four when the meeting was supposed to finish at 4!!

Got a lovely piece of roast pork out of the freezer for dinner. Will pop to the farm shop later to get a cauliflower and a sack of potatoes. Cauli cheese is tops in this house. Any leftover will be turned into a pasta bake tomorrow.
