Elderly parents 'conned' out of sale of there Motorhome!

Why would I be remotely interested in answering an off topic question from someone who's not offered any advice? Ask the op if it's important.
Bit late as you already did.
The deal is done so what advice is there to offer?
Until the OP either finds the trade price of the vehicle or gives us the make model and age no one can say they've been conned. He's been asked about the trade price and hasn't responded. I guess for some reason he expected his parents to get retail price for the van.
Anything else you want to pick at?0 -

Even then I don't think it helps very much. The dealer can offer as much or as little as they please and the seller can accept or reject the offer as they please.
There can be all sorts of genuine reasons why a dealer may feel something is not worth the "trade price" to them at a particular time.
Unless the elderly couple have real evidence that the dealer deliberately gave them false information (i.e. committed fraud) they have no case.
Given the elderly / vulnerable card that is being played here I wonder if the couple were really in a position to safely deal with a c.£10K to £13K sale from their driveway? It is not that easy to transact private sales for significant amounts of money unless you happen to be selling to somebody you know well and trust.0 -

Yes, agreed but hollydays likes to make an issue out of things so she has something to report. The only thing I would say the op had a point on about his parents being conned is if trade was £13k and they were told retail was £8k so he paid them £5k. But who knows as the op won't answer.
I also think the op is being unrealistic in the fact his parents would have found a private buyer at this time of year who is willing to pay top money.0 -

I know what I know and it is was it is.
It is all black and white in your VERY small world, You need to understand that you claiming this that and the other all the time when having read a lot of your posts is utter tosh and you may or may not be a PC but I can assure you that your thoughts on a lot of things are totally wrong and misleading to.0 -

Whilst yours are always right?
We all make errors, it's misleading too.

Enjoy your day now.
Why would you spit my dummy out and claim everyone else is wrong?
Have you made another angry mistake?0 -
Just because it has a sticker price of £15k doesn't mean it will sell for that. Dealers expect the prices to get knocked down, and will add a few grand on the price to cover that.0
