Until he knows what the trade price for the vehicle is he can only guess at how much under the odds his parents accepted.

I don't think there will be many buyers at this time if year.

I agree there probably isn't much demand in January . But Spring is not that far away.
Without knowing all the ins and outs of the condition it's going to be pretty hard anyway to work out the price.
What prices things are advertised at, and what they sell for often are very disparate.

Was it in A1 condition or did it need work?
It was in fair condition. It went on the dealers website within a few days ready for sale at £15000
It is not unreasonable for them to advertise the thing for sale immediately, at a price that takes account of the work that needs doing to bring it up to the advertised value.

Could well be in their workshop now having thousands of pounds being spent on it.

Well Easter is early but I cannot see much demand unto April. By that time there will be a new registration plate out and a glut of 2016 model motorhomes.

And let's be fair it was owned by 80 years olds. Will the interior be of the choosing of a younger person?

Not everyone can afford a new motorhome presumably?;)

I wouldn't say they were "conned" if they just went to one dealer, didn't haggle and sold it the same day then £8000 is a good result. Plus also they weren't buying another one which will also reduce the trade in price. When you also consider all the costs that have been mentioned above and that it's been sitting around for a while, I would say they got a good price.

Obviously they could have got better but that would involve the effort of shopping around or selling privately.

I never said they could. But being a vehicle it will be less desirable once the new plates come out

    Hi
the dealer who purchased this motorhome is my uncle and after talking to him today he did indeed pay the wrong price.

Would it be ok if he went to see your parents at say 10.00am in the morning to collect the 2 grand he overpaid?
    thank you

If it is a large dealership that is not too far from Peterborough, then they are quite negotiable on sale price and often reduce asking prices when motorhomes don't sell.
The one near Eye by any chance ;)
