Hi,
For the first time I saw signs of what looks like damp on my bedroom wall.
There's lots of dots scattered over a meter long suddenly appeared right next to my window.
What shall I do?
I don't want to let this get out of hand and get costly.
Please help

Picture, please?
How long have you lived there?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

2 years.
I wiped it off with a dry tissue today (hopefully not a mistake doing that).
It's nothing like wet patches or anything. All I see is light spores on the walls.
Something like this I found on Google (see top right hand side of the image - it's like that)0 -
Any leaking guttering or pipes outside, where water may be landing on that bit of wall? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Yes I have a broken roof gutter next to it. I suspect this is the problem?0

It's an obvious first thing to rule out.
In the meantime if you want to get rid of the mould, wipe it with a weak bleach or sterilising solution such as Milton. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Bingo. Guttering is REALLY important! Fix the guttering, clean the mould, wait for the wall to dry out, bleach the area again and then paint over it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

That might be condensation rather than damp from the faulty gutter.
We had a similar problem, called in a damp surveyor who advised us that it was not penetrating damp but condensation.
Spray the area with a mould spray, leave for a few minutes or a few hours depending on the instructions and then wipe off. Repeat if necessary.
Fix the gutter too asap.
Reduce or eliminate sources of humidity and increase ventilation in that room or your house.0 -
Fix the guttering and inspect the external render for damage. Repair if necessary.
Ventilate the room more during the day and heat it more during the evening/night.
See how things are after then.

Deal with it before it grows! Wet wipes wasn't so good idea. Better way is to remove mould without touching it. Good luck0

Sort your gutter first, but consider that condensation may have been the cause. Once you've cleaned the mould and repainted, have a look here for various ways to reduce condensation https://www.cse.org.uk/advice/advice-and-support/damp-condensation
Also, check behind any furniture which may have been against that wall, and any clothes at the back of drawers. Just to make sure you aren't missing any spore patches that have developed!0
