One night in Liverpool city centre

Most city centre places are booked up months in advance of Liverpool home games so its probably a good job you want to stay a bit further out.
There is a Marriott at the old airport in Speke (about 7 miles out), Holiday Inn at John Lennon Airport (again about 7-8 miles out), Inkeepers Lodge (one is North Liverpool nearer Anfield and one in South Liverpool about 6 miles from town), the Feathers is just a short walk from town by the Catholic Cathedral (Paddys wigwam), The Alicia near Sefton Park (approx 5 miles out). Will have a think and see what else I can some up with
thanks, i'll have a look at these and see if any are available. The games at Goodison, so hopefully there shouldnt be too many people travelling to it, well as much as Liverpool normally have.May - Sex and the City tickets. June - £5 spar voucher, July - Sally Hansen nail shine & miracle set, mccains garden games, August - ERB Spa goody bag worth over £1000 -
I've had a look at Feathers which is full and The Alicia is £130 for a room so too expensive.
Is the airport still not quite a bit away?
I'm looking at Innkeepers at Aigburth, but i dont know if they have parking, i've e-mailed them to ask.May - Sex and the City tickets. June - £5 spar voucher, July - Sally Hansen nail shine & miracle set, mccains garden games, August - ERB Spa goody bag worth over £1000 -
Yes they do have parking, there is also a carvery next door which does a fine turkey dinner
The airport is about 5 mins further away than the one in Aigburth. You can drive from the airport into town in about 15-20 mins depending on the traffic (my route to work every day)0 -

Thanks very much for all of this. How far would you say Aigburth is from Goodison as obviously we wont be taking the car to the game?May - Sex and the City tickets. We've decided to stay just outside the centre this time with having the car and will be easier to get back on the motorway to come home, can anybody recommend anything which is reasonable priced?
Thanks
One straight road about 10 minutes drive / 20 mins walk to Goodison ( walkable as my husband does it most weekends!) and about 5 mins to the M62. tHE tOBY CARVERY / INNKEEPERS ON qUEENS dRIVE IS ALSO ABOUT TWO MINS FROM THERE, aIGBURTH WOULD BE ANOTHER 20 MINUTES AWAY by car ( could be longer on match day!) sorry for capitals!0 -
Its about 7 miles away from Goodison. You could get a Northern Line train from Cressington station directly through to Sandhills (takes about 25 mins) where they run a soccerbus starting 2 hours before kickoff and for 50 mins after final whistle and its about £1.50 http://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/articleimages/Soccerbus%202005.pdf0

Ooh yeah forgot about that one, think it tends to fill up pretty quickly though. The North Inkeepers isn't far from the Stag and Rainbow and is on the main drag away from the ground. Only thing is, you can expect to be stuck in traffic on Queens Drive for at least an hour before getting to the motorway.
I used to live next to Stanley Park and match day was a nightmare, couldn't park or get out to go anywhere. :eek:0 -

I've just checked these and the Stag and Rainbow looks like its full, but looks like i could get a room in the Innkeepers on Queens Drive. Do you know if this has free carparking also? Is it a 10 minute walk?
Thanks for your help.May - Sex and the City tickets. June - £5 spar voucher, July - Sally Hansen nail shine & miracle set, mccains garden games, August - ERB Spa goody bag worth over £1000 -
Yes, it's definitely got free parking and it is walkable, as long as you don't mind about 25 minute walk? You could always get the 60 bus along Queens Drive, stops just outside.
Don't tell my husband I'm being helpful to a Liverpudlian though will you? He'll be there cheering the blues on!0 -
