Evening.
very busy but productive few days, lots listed on £bay and have made £60 which has gone to the 2 pots, really pleased as almost paid off small debt. Once that has gone I will save everything towards new bed and start a new debt next month which is £700 but if I aim to over pay £150 which I think is doable I won't feel so overwhelmed.
Need to get a few jobs done before bed, I want to catch up with ironing.I'm trying really ard to try and do a bit everyday so I'm not left with 2 hrs worth at the weekend. also want to sweep and mop through the downstairs.
Nothing much else going on at the minute.
Hope everyone is ok.x.0 -
Afternoon diary.
Been busy with life and not had chance to post but thought I would quickly update my sig as not only did I manage to pay off small debt but I also managed to save enough for new bed, didn't cost £400 that I had budgeted but managed to get a good del on bed frame and a mattress for £250 as it was in the sale and then had a voucher for £50 off if I spent £300, so that will be delivered in the half term I could have had it delivered this weekend but decided that I want to have a clearout in DS bedroom before it is delivered and maybe touch up the paint and I know I havn't got time until half term break.
Been trying to keep all spending under control and cooking from scratch and generally being as frugal as I can be, did have an evening out with friends but only spent £22 which is ok and I really needed it.
Decided to check out Dave Ramsey, over the years of being on MSE I have heard his name countless times but never checked him out so I went on youtube and p1nterest and OMG everything he says just clicks, it all makes sense. So next month I'm starting by doing my budget listing everything that could possible need to be budgeted for and saving £1000 emergency fund, this has to be done and then I will concentrate on the debt, its like I've had this 2nd lightbulb moment and it has just hit me.
Plans for today are just general house stuff, DH and DD are both at work and DS is sorting through some stuff in his room to get rid of and then he has homework, i'm planning on baking as I've got a chicken roasting for tomorrow night so may as well use the oven whilst it is on, general housework and laundry needs doing. Will also try and list on £bay.
Hope everyone is ok.x.0 -
I get the regular emails from Dave Ramsey and they are brilliant. Glad you've been inspired.
Well done on paying off the small debt and getting the bed, I think you had a great plan there - and it workedI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Afternoon diary.
Nipped to a1di this morning and managed to only spend £31, trying to use up from the freezer this week as we are heading towards the end of the month, I do like to try and have use up weeks every now and then its amazing what you can throw together if you put our mind to it.
Cooked a chicken off yesterday which we will have tonight with salads and jkt spuds, also made a crumble with some rhubarb i had lurking in the fridge.
I got up this morning and did my budget and goals for next month and also wrote a list (room by room) of things that need doing/are needed.
As ds has a new bed coming I have decided to tackle his room first it needs a coat of paint and woodwork doing as it hasn't been touched in 5 years, he needs a new lightshade and a set of drawers as the ones he has are the ones i bought when he was a baby:eek: and although they are fine they are narrow drawers and by the time you put in a couple of hoodies and jeans there is no room for anything else, they were fine when he was in babgrows and baby socks:rotfl:. his bedding and curtains are all ok so not going to change them.
Garden needs tidying up so its a relaxing place to sit out, we have masses of borders going all around the front/back garden and i do not have time to keep up with them and keep them tidy, i want to fill them in with pebbles and just have a few bushes/ lavender plants peeping through that i can keep on top of.
So Junes goals -
DS room £200.
Garden £100 (might need more but will give us a starting point).
£1000 emergency fund - save £250:eek:.
£550 is a huge amount of money to find, but i'm always up for a challenge.
1 week to go untill half term and I can't wait to spend some time at home pottering and getting on top of things.
Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the weekend.
Also DS lost it with is bl**dy xbox playing fifa and punched his tv and smashed it , I honestly could of killed him. on a plus though as he can't play it anymore as I refuse to let him plug it in to the main tv it does mean all his homework has been done, he has read part of a book, swept the drive and now gone out on his bike, fingers crossed it takes him a long time to save up for a new tv because I refuse to buy one.0 -
Love a good plan and a challenge! Best of luck XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Oooohhh Pennywise, might have to have a little research into Dave Ramsey, could do with a kick up the rear end myself!!!
Weve also had a week of freezer, its amazing what I found in there and I can actually see into it now!!
Cant believe DS did that! Im glad you've dealt with it in that way, I would be exactly the same with one of mine. They need to realise they can't behave like that xxMummytogirls x0 -
Evening diary.
not much to update really, NSD and instead of making spag bol we had leftovers for tea, bulked out with bread rolls. Spag bol can go on meal plan for next week.
Made a sale on ebay but messed up postage, as it needs to go as a medium parcel not a small, my own fault for not weighing, so only £4 profit made. Never mind.
Need to give DS £5 on Thursday as he is going straight from school to club cricket and has a match, so will need to get himself some tea on the way. so nothing to add to my challenge pots.
Everything else ticking along.
Hope everyone is ok.x.0 -
I've not got much to say today except for the fact i'm feeling blessed, blessed that my 2 teenage babies were safe and sound in their beds this morning. They both had friends that had gone to that concert last night in Manchester and thankfully they are safe and well. But my heart goes out to those that went out to what should have been an enjoyable evening, maybe a birthday present, a well done for trying hard at school or maybe just a get together with friends. But for some their lives have been turned upside down and will never be the same again and it's all senseless evil.
Take care all.x.0 -
Evening.
loving the sunshine and being able to peg out long may it continue.
Small grocery spent of £9 today did get 2 punnets of tomatoes reduced to 10p each which have been whizzed up with half a jar of pesto I had lurking in the fridge, will put it in the freezer and it will do as a cheap pasta sauce one night.
£bay so slow must be the end of the month and no one has any money, fingers crossed it picks up in the next few days. I have money to save!
DD school report is in and it's glowing, so proud of her. She is thinking what she can have as a reward.
Everything else is ticking along nicely, roll on tomorrow evening as I have a nice long week off and the wine is already chilling:D0
