    Morning.

All quiet in the PWPS household as children have been shipped off to school.

Sat and done finances for the week and realised I had made a big booboo, I'd forgotten to account for DD tutor:eek:this is £156 as I pay half termly and it needs paying today, so my budget is now £150 short for the month:mad:.

So plan for this is No1 do not buy any furniture yet for DS as I have £160 in that pot, No2 £bay, £bay £bay then hopefully I can rectify the mess and DS still gets furniture this month. As most bills don't go out of my account until the 20th or after I have 2 weeks to sort this.

I have made a to do list, tweaked meal plan and cut back where possible.

    To do list-

    Pay T£sco cc £194:eek:- done.
Write cheque for tutor, last one until September-done.
Take DS for haircut after schooldone
    Buy milk and only milk.done
    Post £bay parcel.
Pay £50 for DD school trip, another booboo as didn't think it was due until 18th, actually due the 1st so 4 days late:o.done.

    Meal plan -

Mon- stuffed chicken thighs, mash and broccoli/sweetcorn
    Tue- Spag bol.
Wed - Jkt potatoes beans and cheese.
Thurs-scrambled eggs, grilled toms/mushrooms on toast.
Fri - Beef casserole, mash and veg.

Fuel- I budget £25 a week, but I have half a tank left as didn't really go anywhere half term, so hoping I might only need to put in £10/£15 at end of week.

Packed lunches all week for us all and fingers crossed no other spends.
  • So fed-up, DH came home for lunch asked me what was wrong so tried to talk to him about money, which just ended up in a row, explained to him how i'd messed my budget up and things were tight, his answer was if you need money just ask. I tried to explain how I wanted an emergency fund and to pay off CC before kids start with driving lessons and university. His answer was if its an emergency we can just use CC:mad:. He just can't see it, we are not even on the same book never mind same page. He ended up agreeing to a £1000 emergency fund but I think it was just to shut me up. Had a text from him 10 mins ago did I want to go to ikea for DS furniture on Sunday:mad:, I swear if he had been in the house I would of killed him. I cannot get through to him, I've just got to keep going and wading through on my own.

I've decided next month no work on house, or new bits to save for. Aim to get that emergency fund. Living room needs painting I can do it in the holidays with what we have, curtains will do a bit longer and need a new rug as dog had an accident on it and it was totally ruined, can manage summer without rug but not winter as its too cold on wood floor, plenty of time to save for that.

MR SA is just the same with money, like banging my head against a brick wall.

I hate forgetting to budget for something :(

When you have a tight budget, you can always guarantee something will throw a spanner in the works. Mine is usually the week before I get paid, I will have done really well and think I am nearly there and then I get hit with something.xx
:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.00
  • Thanks for the kind comments.

    Quick update this morning.

If I scrape all money pots together I'm about £10 short for the month, which is doable.so just need to start from scratch with pots.

Busy day today, back to work and lots to do.

    TO do list-

chuck bolognaise together in slow cooker-done
    Post ebay parcels.
    Package ebay parcels.
    Sort ebay relists.
    Make packed lunches.
    sort laundry hang on airer.
    make biscuits.
    tidy dining room.
    Pack lunches school/work.

    Have a good day.x.

What a nightmare with the big bill Pennywise, always the case isn't it. Im glad you've managed to get it to just a £10 shortfall. I hate arguing with the DH about money, they just don't seem to get it do they. I once told DH I would hand all the finances over to him.. that soon shut him up!!

Hope you're feeling a bit brighter today... unlike this miserable weather xx
