Where I live half term is next week and the schools don't finish until the 23rd December. All teachers are in panic mode about their xmas shopping. Feel like saying now you know how the rest of us feel.x

Just wondering if we live in the same area,as we break up on the 22nd for xmas but was going to be 23rd until staff complained to governors and we were able to change it by one day by tagging a day on later in the year, as long as you are in school for the legal amount of days you can alter them slightly.

Live in Cheshire where the county is split into two councils, where I think one council decided half term was this week and my council decided it would be next week. Mind you some families have got cracking deals on holidays for next week.xx

  • Afternoon.

Quick update, payday today so I've sent some money to the hols pot, We have been to the dentist this morning, all good but still cost me £19 odd to be told my teeth are lovely.
We then went on to Mr A and spent £64 but I do seem to have got loads and then spent a further £18 in h0me bargains, cupboards are bursting so should hopefully last us the week.
I have made a pan of carrot and butternut squash soup, lunch today has been leftovers and tea is just Jkt spuds with cheese/beans tonight all very frugal and money saving.

I've been watching a programme about living in a Victorian slum on the bbc, ive found it really interesting and also made me realise just how blinking lucky we are in modern times, DD has been watching it on iplayer and I think she was quite surprised.
So I'm trying to be more mindful of what we use and what we need and what we really can live without.
We are managing quite well with not putting the CH heating on with the weather being mild, stove has been lit and burning free wood and CH goes on for an hour in the evening to heat water for washing up and take the chill off the bedrooms. DS room is warm as the chimney breast is in there so he gets heat from that, but DD bedroom is much cooler so I've put out fleece blanket for her and she has a hot water bottle to snuggle.
I've started using pasta bowls for a lot more of our meals as they hold less than dinner plates and I did use smaller round dinner plates yesterday for rst dinner again they hold less than the big square ones I usually use, nobody said anything so I'm going to continue.
I will continue baking as this does save money and taking packed lunches to work/school.

Surveys are going ok but i'm finding I have less and less time to keep up with them, did redeem £20 the other day, so hopefully that will arrive soon. £bay is just random as I just put bits on as I have them and to be honest I am totally out of love with £bay and just findit annoying.

Sorry a total ramble about not much but I need to feel as though I'm doing something.

    Morning diary.

Today will be a pottering at home sort of day, only exception is a quick trip to the post office, so today should be a low spend day.

Child ben has gone into account so I have sent £37.60 across to hols pot.
couple of DD have gone out of account, need to have a tot up and see whats left to go.

    Plans for today -
    All meals from stores- B = porridge, L - soup/bread/yog, T = scrambled eggs/mush/toms on toast.
    Post parcel.done
    Ironing/washing.
    Surveys.
Watch last night Victorian slum on iplayer.done
    sweep/mop through downstairs.done
    Bring in logs for stove.done
    1 item on ebay.
    Bake.
Spend some time playing a game or going for a walk with kids.done
    Sort animals chickens/dogs/pony.done

I'm sure there is more to do
  • Quick update.

It was freezing this morning so I put CH on for an hour to take the chill off and lit the stove, got wood in and sorted out the animals, house was lovely and warm when i got back in and i've made sure that we have layers on and slippers to keep us snug.

Baked a victoria sponge this morning and have a beef casserole in the slow cooker, so that has warmed the kitchen up. I need some eggs for yorky puds to go with beef but the chickens are not laying well at the minute and i have only had 1 egg today, will go out in a bit and check to if there is any more.

Ab£l and c0le have sent me a voucher for a half price veg box, so i've ordered a large box and some fish pie mix which came in at £20 for the lot, hopefully with what we already have in I shouldnt need a big shop next week and can just nip to Mr A for bread and milk.

Watching a couple of bits on £bay for the kids for xmas, planning a frygal christmas with going away, as that is there main present so just getting stocking fillers.

Better get on with some washing.
