I was on the pill for 18 years ... and fell pregnant within one month of stopping the daily pill-popping :)

Wow :) my husband and I are trying for a family after being on the pill for approximately 8 years. I stopped taking the pill at the end of September, had my normal period at the beginning of October. However I haven't had a period since :( can it take this long for it to return?

P.s. sorry for hijacking the thread.

It can take months, I would stop immediately and see what happens.

If you were pregnant today, you would not notice for 6-8 weeks as you would assume your body was reacting to the stoppage of the pill.

It took me over a year to conceive, I'd been on the pill for about 10 years beforehand. I think everyone's journey is different. I hope yours is a swift one!... all worth it of course xx

For some people it can take a while for your body to get back into a proper cycle, but I had one period after coming off the pill then nothing and thought it was just a cycle thing. Then started feeling sick a few weeks later and was pregnant.

Are u sure your not pregnant already?

If you don't want to be pregnant on or prior to your holiday then I'd stay using contraceptives till then. I'm another one who became pregnant straight away.

First time stopped midcycle, had a period 2 weeks later then conceived that month.
Other times have stopped at end of packet and conceived within a month

I've been off the pill since March trying to conceive and with no luck, periods are still erratic I have one every month but one month utll be 26days the next is 35. I've been using ovulation sticks too but have had very few positives :( it's hard but you have to try not get consumed by it all! Xx

It depends entirely on the person, when we stopped the pill to start trying my wife wasn't having her usuak withdrawal bleed, it turned out she was already pregnant but we didn't find out until she misscarried. We then struggled to concieve so she was prescribed the combination pill for eight weeks as some women see a small fertility boost when they stop taking it. Aftee that we became pregnant straight away, obviously it could have been a coincidence.

Remember it isn't just folic acid, if it isn't good already you need to get your diet and fitness into check.

    Good luck
