Is online cat food cheaper?

Just placed an order. free delivery over £20 - I order Feliway refill & Logic gel only. I feed my moggies tinned Butchers Classic & Burns dried & whatever is good on offer so buy tins in supermarket & dried in Pets at Home.

Welcome to the world of cat owning - that is being owned by cats.

I'm aware a lot of cat owners don't like the thought of Whiskas etc - The quantities I buy (bulk buying of dry food is the way forward) does make it much cheaper than the supermarket and although there are some much better cat food providers out there the vet said that if they're eating it and they're happy to leave them have it. I will admit I got worried the other day (after a post on this forum) and rang to check. My queenies are in excellent health and refuse to eat any other food. Most of the zooplus cat food is fish flavoured and one of my girls can't eat fish without being sick.

I have discovered some new websites and it seems that it's best to shop around as much as possible as the deals change.

I use Amazon and Pets at Home, as well at the supermarkets. I buy in bulk depending who has whatever I use on offer at the time

We have to buy prescription cat food, and it's considerably cheaper online.

Just recently bought a 10kg of Hills prescription dry food for £40 online instead of nearer £60 in shops.

I'm surprised so many people are loyal to one particular online site, I shop around each time I'm buying and do always find a different shop turns out cheapest. It all depends on their current selling prices, what voucher codes are available, and what offers they have on at the time.

Although I buy what feels like almost everything on Amazon, I have to say I've never found them to be anywhere near competitive for cat food. I do always check them but have never bought it from there yet.

Thanks for the website list...that's really helpful having them there like that. I found some dried food on offer on Amazon, but it was literally on offer for a day or 2 and then went back up to full price, so I think amazon is one to keep an eye on frequently. They also had an offer on sheba pouches the other day which was 4boxes of 12 pouches for £10. That's a fair bit cheaper than in the shops.
Bizarrely, I've noticed that amazon prime now has your whiskas/felix type cans for less than the supermarkets... I've used it a couple of times to top up a prime now order to make the £20 minimum.
I think you're all spot on - shopping around is the way forward.

after your cats hit 10 don't feed dried - it damages their kidneys - worse for boys as they get crystals & blockages over time. Cats don't make up the moisture they miss via drinking water - I have tried it!

Depends upon the quality of dry food you feed them. All my cats were fed on premium dry food and lived well into their 20s.

you were lucky. I've been feeding the Burns for years - as well as good wet food. Note the tomcats crystals were noted a while ago & glucosamine recommended & feliway. Dried is expensive convenience for owners & numerous websites are stating that kidney failure is killing domestic cats - something that doesn't happen in the wild!
