^^ All the reasons I use Zooplus. And I'm in love with DPD - best courier by a mile and always leave in our safe place with no issue. I always make sure I'm spending £39 on Zooplus stock up orders. :D

We use them for Hills Science Plan food, the Okoplus litter, replacement filters for our water fountain, plus I make it up to £39 with a couple of new toys if need be, as they get destroyed after few months.

Plus, if I remember correctly they send you free cat toys with orders over a certain amount.

  • Another vote for Zooplus, I get all my food and litter from there - if you spend over £29 it's free delivery (via Yodel) but if you spend over £39 you can opt for free delivery via DPD.

With DPD you get a text/email on the day they are due to deliver with a 1 hour window, if that's not convenient you can get it delivered another day, get it delivered to a neighbour, tell them to leave it in your designated 'safe place' and a new option is to deliver it to a 'DPD parcel shop' the next morning - in my area the parcel shops are Halfords branches and various small local shops.

Depends where you live ..... DPD are dreadful here but Yodel fantastic so you really do have to try both to find out which is better in your area

I get a text from Yodel to say when it's coming & they are happy to leave in my 'safe place'

Lidl do 1kg of dry cat food for 89p

Sure, but it's not going to be great quality is it!

OK for the odd emergency if funds are really tight for say a couple of months - but not for a long term diet!

Also, they'll probably eat much more of it!

How long does a box last?

A couple of £s more and you can give them a much better diet for their long term health & wellbeing eg

I use zoo plus. I put 10kg portia 21 grain free (60% meat). For £30.

That's £3 per kg of high meat content grain free food. I couldn't buy anything even remotely close to that price in the shops.

    Wow, zoopla definitely looks popular.
I'm working a lot this week, but will sit down on my day off next week and see what I can find on the site.
They have a mix of dried foods, so even a few orders of really snazzy food at a good price amongst the usual supermarket shop cat food on offer (and even the odd bag of the lidl dried stuff now and again) will suit them nicely.
Do have a look at wet food too - it's really much better for them in the long term and doesn't have to break the bank

Zooplus especially has a huge selection of wets and great prices

Butchers Classic from the supermarket is a really decent, cheap wet food as well

Thanks for the advice and concern. You're totally right of course.
My guys are a bit spoiled, they get dried food in the morning and wet at tea time....and whatever I fancy treating them to around lunchtime...sometimes wet, sometimes dry and occasionally a tin of tuna. :):)
PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
Now to start saving...it's a whole new world!!
  • Zooplus is amazing. I always get my cat litter from there - It costs me £4 every two weeks now instead of £7 every two.
The tinned goods are excellent there too - but branded stuff is just as good in the SM as on there. Whiskas and things. Every 6 months they change the cat on the packaging so they're usually on really good offer so I stock up. Luckily IAMS and GoKat do the same thing.

  • We have just welcomed our first ever cat into the family, have always been dog people. Our lovley kitten is 10 weeks old and currently on wet food, I am keen to get her onto a good quality dry eventually.

Our dog has always been fed on millies wolfheart which is a very good quality food, they also do cat food which I am hoping is just as good. I have purchased some samples to try kitty with and hoping they go down well.

I am not sure how the cost works out compared to other brands as I have not looked at anything else but if it works out like their dog food the value is very good especially for a high quality food as portion sizes can be considerably smaller than other brands

Zooplus customer here as well. I get all the kitties dry food from there Porta 21 2x10kg for £49.99 I also get a discount and they have a points scheme. Last time I used them I got some wet food. My kitties have both dry and wet. I tend to get the wet from the local shop when they have offers otherwise I just shop around. Luckily my 4 aren't too fussy!

I'm afraid I wouldn't class Whiskas, IAMS and GoCat as good quality foods, quite the reverse actually, and they're especially not comparable with the excellent quality wet food brands sold on Zooplus.
  • I don't use Zooplus because they don't have the food my two need, or they have some of it but it's more expensive than elsewhere, I can't remember...but I have used it before we needed special diets, and it was always decent.

Pets at Home is pretty good for your standard sort of food. I switch between MedicAnimal, VetUK and PetDrugsOnline for our specialist stuff, depending on which has the best prices/offers at the time. I've been mostly using PetDrugsOnline for the last few months as my normal monthly order is coming out about £10 cheaper than the others.
