  • Could I join in - I know it is late in 2016 but having just learnt the word SABLE I have decided to challenge myself to complete a few UFO's hanging about my sewing room.

I hope to complete 5 items in the coming weeks till the end of 2016:

1 - buttons on jacket, hole in trousers & sew in threads of completed blanket

    2 - Baby knitted top/fleece bottom quilt

    3 - Christmas felt ornaments & Stocking

4 - felted jumper embroidered quilt & corners of cat quilt

5 - wedding sampler thing - DECIDE what it will be but really 20 years as unfinished ends in 2016!!

In 2017 I will have a much bigger list and hopefully my stash will reduce to manageable proportions and stop overwhelming me with the possibilities whenever I enter the room!

I've completed the first of my list!!
Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

Woo hoo. That's 20% done. Are you doing them in order?

I'm actually doing a little dance for you. (While making the bed ) its addictive and I hope you stay busy. 😄

Nope - am now doing number 4. I felted a number of cashmere jumpers that had seen better days, turned them into large 5" hexagons, joined them together and am now doing large lazy embroidery around the joins. In addition I have found a number of small 2" hexagons from the backing fabric I plan to use and am randomly attaching those by hand using blanket stitch on top of the larger hexies. Once that is done (finished 5 today) I will then add the batting and backing and hand quilt using big stitches. It will be a bit bigger than a lap quilt but that is effectively what it is for - keeping my toes and lower body warm on the sofa in the colder months! ha ha

I have also started to make a list of all my unfinished craft items including 2 dresses from 2 years ago and 6 YEARS! eeekkkk I want to challenge myself to finish all of the UFO's before I start any new exciting craft projects - of which I have so much fabric I could theoretically start giving classes! ha ha

I have managed three Christmas decorations. They're small but pretty.

I've also threaded all of the handmade Pom poms onto string and stored them on a piece of card. They're looking good.

I'm slowly Trying to work my way through the piles of stuff on the coffee table and get through the ufo's - or at least the ones that are in the front room.

    425 / 500.

I have also started 6 pmc pendents for prezzies this Christmas. They need to dry before I can fire them. I won't add them until they have been and I've polished them up. I've had the clay for nearly two years so very pleased I've used it up. I did have to replace the blow torch so I can fire them - but I wasn't going to waste the clay. also hopefully saved me money on Christmas prezzies. Woo hoo.

I have the polystyrene wreath started too. I had made some paper flowers but think I need some more. So I'm just waiting for the glue to dry on three more before I add them and the ribbon to hang it. I am hoping that I can make it balance straight.

I have added these to the wreath and then has a discussion about it being Christmassy. It will be. Haha

I need to remake my partners advent calendar. That will be the next project I think. I supposed it's one that is kind of time limited. Haha

    I'm glad everyone is busy.

  • Hi all, I have been lurking and enjoying looking at everyone's creations. In 2015 I set myself a target to make 23 Christmas wreaths which I did not completecomplete. But this year I purchased more foam rings to try and use up all the Christmas fabric I have. The results are of which you can see are at https://www.flickr.com/photos/148184134@N02/shares/cKiZ57

The cards are looking grand. It may seem neve ending - but at some point you'll loom at the stash and notice a difference.

And those wreaths are epic. Have they used up the Christmas fabric stash?

Tonight I was mostly drinking. But I have managed to bottle up 4 bottles of liqueurs. These seemed to leak as they are now mostly empty. So I'll get back on that at some point soon. Haha.

  • HI Nimbo, I glad you liked the wreaths, they are very simple to make and I find them therapeutic, as they don't need much concentration until they are being assembled. Unfortunately I still have about 50% of my Christmas fabric stash left and twice as much again in patchwork fabric. The aim is to make a few patchwork quilts in 2017 and to finish off two UFO's before I buy anymore.

    Those wreaths are amazing, bright.

As well as a huge card stash I have a huge fabric stash and a huge wool stash!

I've had a better stashbusting week this week.

Unfortunately I needed a sympathy card.

On a brighter note, I managed to get on to a USO (UnStarted Object). I've had the panel for this Christmas stocking advent bunting for a couple of years and, as I said above, I have plenty of fabric (including Christmas fabric, of course), so I finally attacked it.

And I should finish a UFO from last year in the next couple of days!
