  • I don't post very often, but I do lurk.

You can get train tickets through quidco - do a search for the trainline. You only get 1% back if you spend over £25 so don't know if this is any good.
  • thanks I'll take a look

  • Got the train ticket sorted :D

had a look online for the times etc. I need to travel and ticket cost would have been £19.30, but to buy in advance only £14 :j . So I just dragged my butt down to the railway station and bought my ticket - seats reserved and everything :D . It does mean I have to get the train at the specified times, but that won't be a problem .... so £5.30 saved :j

  • Update:

Me and hubby have finally come to the decision to cancel our sky subscription until we have cleared our debts. It was something we never wanted to do, because we have no social life whatsoever, don't smoke, don't drink (all the excuses under the sun not to get rid of it :p ). We used to be on £21 a month package and then I promised OH that we would get the sports back for the footy season  . We decided to upgrade back to the full package of £45 a month last month, and have so far only watched 1 film and 2 footy games. Most of the matches have been on while hubby at work or haven't been on Sky  . We have also been struggling for something to watch and have been watching sky news most of the time, which is free to air anyway.

So, after having a chat about our options, we are just going to cancel it because we will still get the free to air channels through the box (freesat). We can then use the £45 a month that we were prepared to pay for sky towards the debt, and hopefully shave off another month or so from our DFD.

Just hope the kids don't go too mad about losing nickelodeon and nick jr. :o

Hubby has also cancelled his contact lenses as he hasn't been wearing them, so another £15 a month saved there :j

    BUT

We have offered to pay for something for our sister-in-law. I feel that we have done the right thing morally, if not financially. She is 16 and has just started hairdressing at college. My in laws are on a very very low income, went bankrupt a couple of years ago and live entirely off benefits (carers, DLA, incapacity etc.) as my MIL is awaiting a heart transplant and is very ill. They have got most of the equipment free because of their benefit status, but they would not pay for the training head as it is an optional item. The inlaws can't afford it at all - they are really skint, so we offered to pay for it. I'm not sure how much it will cost, estimating about £20-30, but just felt that we wanted to do this to help them out. Would you have done the same?

  • Thanks Shineyhappy - it certainly feels awesome. At our highest point we were over 15k in debt so we are now well over halfway. My next milestone is 5k as that is half cleared since the LBM in March. I'm still not sure how we have managed so much in 6 months!

Oh, and we have just been accepted for an Alliance and Leicester bank account (applied for the £50 cashback through quidco) - so things must be improving on our credit file too. Should now be able to organise ourselves for separate bills and spends accounts.

Thanks for your kind words Spirit xx

  •  Oh No

Just checked my internet banking and our WTC has gone in, but only £7.20 instead of £77.18 that we normally get every 4 weeks. I have no idea why, there has been no change in circumstances or anything. This is now going to make us £38.12 short for the month according to the spreadsheet, unless I don't completely clear the crapital one card

Why do they do this??

I really want shot of the card this month so we don't pay any more interest .... I need a plan ....
