Good luck, and I am sure it will be all the motivation you need.

I am hoping to do a similar thing - My DFD is currently in 2010, but I really really want to bring it forward to Dec 2009 so that I can say on Jan 1st that I will be debt free next year!

  • I have written a list of all the things I have signed up to and when I need to cancel them, otherwise I'd forget too! I live near the coast - rather not say exactly where :)

  • Well September is going to be a very tight month ..... just done my spreadsheet :o

every penny is spoken for if I am to pay off the capital one card this month .... which I am determined to do! I hate things being so tight ... and can't cut back anywhere either.

daughter's ballet invoice arrived today for the new term, so £75 there, and she has gone up a level so that means new leotard and skirt too  . I always forget to budget for ballet. at least my parents pay for her swimming lessons

Oh and almost had disaster this morning with nappies. H took his dirty nappy off, and then I realised there were no nappies in the house  . You'd think on my 3rd child I'd be better organised  . Anyway, I had to clean his bum and run out to the car and get a nappy out of the buggy. So that was my last nappy ... so off to boots today for some nappies.

Kids go back to school tomorrow (yay :j ) and have got them everything they need for that. Its my middle son's first day at big school bless him, he was only 4 3 weeks ago so he is very young. He looks really cute in his uniform.

  • Urgh, things I forgot to budget for:

    *mobile phone bill £35
*train fare to Leeds Uni on Saturday £20ish

can take a packed lunch to Leeds instead of using Uni canteen, which will save about £3 and can use the free city bus to get up there saving £3.50 in taxi fare.

This leaves me with £30ish left for the rest of the month for unbudgeted spends. Hoping I haven't forgotten anything else or I am in a mess. Hopefully hubby's extra pay for bank holiday will be paid this week as things should look a bit more healthy then.

Anywhere I can buy a train ticket and get cashback or discount???

I am so tired today as all 3 kids were up during the night at various times, with nightmares or wet nappies or wanting a drink  . Hubby had day off today so have been out practising my driving in the car saving £18 on a driving lesson ;) . Did tesco shop which came in on budget (£37.18) and only need to spend another couple of £ in the veg shop on carrots, brocolli and spuds :T . I just don't know how we ever managed to spend £80ish a week on shopping - what on earth did we used to buy??

Looking forward to this month being over as it is so tight this month, but also because I will be sub £7k :j :j :j

I wish i could find some more things to ebay. How well to kids books sell? I have some beatrix potter books from 1987 which my kids don't want (they were mine) and are in perfect condition, but not sure how much demand there will be for kids books. Could try and persuade DD to part with the rest of her baby annabell stuff (made a fortune selling the bits she didn't want anymore). I seem to be all ebayed out.

Yay!!! well done you! I hope you will be working out a little treat for yourself you definatly deserve it!

You could always look on Amazon to see if kids books sell well second hand.

Best of luck for your challenge I am sure you will pass it with flying colours!

    HI mrs spendalot

I sold some Beatrix Potter books on Amazon - but only for 1p (there are lots listed at that price), if you sell at 1p you get £1.41 and obviously they are cheap to post.

If you are doing a carboot sale, you would probably get more for them there.

  • Thanks - I have never sold on amazon before so have no idea what their charges and things are. will look into it. have toyed with the idea of a car boot sale, but don't think we have enough stuff to get rid of to warrant a boot sale at the moment. maybe when youngest has grown out of all his baby/toddler toys.
