My new "debt free in 12 months" challenge

After a really profitable few days on quidco, topcashback and ebay I have updated my spreadsheet and will have enough money to clear hubby's capital one card in September. This has a massive impact on my debt free date which will shift to December 2008 :j (not bad considering my original DFD was November 2009).

It feels great to think that I will be debt free next year - but I want to set myself the challenge of being debt free in 12 months. This is the final countdown for us and it feels good.

So, I have a year of quidcoing, ebaying, piggying, strict budgeting and general all round moneysaving to do - I think I am going to be busy!!!:rotfl:

I will keep everyone updated on my progress here, and if anyone has any useful tips to share please feel free to jump on board and let me know ;)

I think you get a few days where you get really into it, and then it fades, and then you get the passion back again - I'm sure its perfectly normal as it is hard work to stay motivated all the time.

It is good motivation as to be honest I was starting to get a bit bored with it all. Then these last few days with SS's offer and great tips on quidco, I have got my energy back.

Glad to hear your energy is back.

I read a lot of debt diarys especially the ones due to end soon and I find that inspiration for me as my DFD seems so long away.

I will be keeping track of yours so now im relying on your success to keep me going!:rotfl:

    No pressure or anything;)

  • Quidco tracking is now £152.18 :D (with some transactions not showing up yet  )

    Topcashback tracking is £160.73 :D

1st September today means a whole new financial month - and this is the month that the final credit card gets paid off :j . This is quite a milestone for us as it is the last of our debts on which we will have to pay interest, the rest being our catalogue, old DCA debt or family debt with 0% interest :D .

Hubby is working some late shifts this week which means some extra pay for unsociable hours so that will come in handy.

However, I have a birthday that I forgot to budget for

  • Woo hoo! Just been on phone to my mum and she is giving us a full bedroom set of bedding and curtains for nowt! It is dorma and cost her about £350-400 as she always buys double the amount of bedding so one set can be in the wash. It has hardly been used and is really pretty and nice - so a perfect excuse for some decorating (we still have childrens border up in our bedroom from before we swapped rooms with the kids). Lick of paint and a new border - bedroom budget £30 to be done in October
