Welcome Treasure, hope you're settling into the flat, I agree we are a lovely bunch very friendly and lots to share.
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend, I went to DD for tea yesterday she did a very nice leg of lamb in the slow cooker with rosemary and red wine. It was served with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, carrots and broccoli. I supplied the pud of treacle spong and custard. And it was very yummy.

Managed to get a little bit more knitting done, shortened 2 pairs of trousers for DS GF she was very pleased with the result and collected them on their way back from shopping.
We've had HM chilli and rice from the freezer which has minimised 4 boxes from the freezer so I've got a little space in there. I've taken some YS breaded chicken breasts I got from Sainbobs for a bargain price of 50p for 2. I'm trying to take food out that will not result in double going back in as I cooked things in a minimum of 4 portions and there's only the 2 of us.

Maggie glad you are a convert to Aldee washing up liquid, I'm yet to try it I found a bottle of cheap stuff I bought when we forgot to take some on holiday last year and I'd pushed it under the sink and forgot about it.
Have a good evening everyone. x
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

    Evening all

Welcome Treasurequeen - a lot of us on here came on due changes of circumstances which have led us to the frugal lifestyle - yet each of us rock it in our own way!! Along the way many of us have become idealists - check out NBI (Not Buying It or Live on a Tenner a week threads on OS too!)

I did make the chicken soup today! Oh was it nice :-) I use an old Nigella recipe ! So comforting and filling. Apart from chicken (bought within budget yesterday) I already had the carrots and onions !! :) So thats my make do bit!

Thanks for sympathies with cold - I usualy get one a year - in Jan/Feb and at least it waited this year to be after GD1 was born. You are right Mrs CD - I am washed out with no energy - I do a little bit and then have to sit down and have a doze!!! :p

among random stuff I felt able to do today I sorted out my little change pot and have finally made up £1 of 5ps and £1 of 2ps and £1 of 1ps. So thats £3 from monies that many people would have just chucked out.!! So pot is minimised and ready to be filled as I will go to bank and pay that + last weeks cash payments from work into bank tomorrow!
No mending today - but there are bits to do - must knuckle down to it tomorrow!
    Nite all
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j

    Lovely :):):).

I'm off work yet again thanks to illness - hence me embracing MMM as I am worried what the future holds.

Feel awful atm, trying new meds which don't seem to be helping at all.

    Anyway, today I plan to:

Make do - leftovers for lunch.

Mend - might crochet later if I'm able to.

No minimise for now. I was proud when I tried to fill a letterbox charity bag with clothes and could only find 2 items to go in. I'm getting there. :)
  • Good morning everyone and welcome on board Treasurequeen.
The dress looks lovely MrsM. I love that style of dress. The pattern you used wasn't a Prima pattern by any chance was it?
I have lots of Prima patterns and might have a look through to see what I have. I used to sew a lot of my own clothes when I was younger but then uni, work, children put a stop to it. Now I'm in retirement mode I'm thinking of trying again and I love dresses. DD1 spotted a dress she liked last week in Hobbs' window. We didn't go in as their stuff is expensive but it was a simple enough style and I said it could be made quite easily. So I think I will be starting on something for her. So that's a new make do project for me.
Yesterday I was out in the garden, hoeing around my fruit bushes and cordons and adding some compost (from heaps) and chicken manure. I'm hoping for lots of fruit this year so that I can freeze some for the winter.
On the minimising me front, OH and I went for a walk along the canal. I need to minimise at least a dress size to get in all the nice dresses I already have:(
I hope all of those who are not feeling well get better soon.

Lovely dress MrsM - quite envious as I can't wear crossover style (not enough up top!) and they always look so elegant.
Saving Pennies - I bought Prima when it first came out & made lots of their patterns. I've still got a small stash of 'classics' including their kimono pattern I use for lightweight dressing gowns. Hmmm maybe I should revisit and get my machine out ;)

Good afternoon all you fellow MMMer's.
Minimised the washing pile and got it dry out doors.
Make do having the YS breaded chicken and HM wedges and broccoli for evening meal
Mend managed to do a little more knitting, wondering if its the weather or the knitting that has started the arthritis off.
I've managed to get a few extra hours sleep whilst not looking after DGS and feel better for it.

Someone suggested to minihauk egg, beans and chips for her students, so that's what we've had for tea, and really enjoyed it. :) It's ages since I had a fried egg.

It was me its a good old back to basics meal, I also like beans on toast with a poached egg on top too. It's the type of stuff mum would give us on Mondays when it was wash day and it took almost all day to do it, back in the 50's. x

Almost forgot again lovely sewing MrsMP

Have been making do with what we have in :) So no shopping, lots of knitting that was already started and have have finished a needlepoint that's been hanging about since the year dot.
No mending this week, nothing needed it.
Minimised petrol use by walking a lot further than I usually do.
Need to buy new walking boots though, as min eave now split, so no real saving there:(

Bitterly cold here with strong winds so a baking day beckoned! Mary Berry Victoria Sandwich with buttercream and HM Raspberry jam. Just had a slice with a cuppa with DH.
Made a pie with the leftover lamb - didn't have any gravy to moisten it so used an ancient tin of meat balls in tomato sauce whizzed in the processor and an onion. Looks & smells OK just hope it'll taste OK. Enough for 2 meals so fingers crossed.
Bought some shin of beef yesterday so will put that in the slow cooker tomorrow - there will be enough for about 3 meals for us.
Not much else done - my energy levels seem to have been really low lately. I'm assuming its because it's been so cold and it always makes me sluggish!! Need to give myself a good talking too!
