Making do - just finished my dinner which was a plated up meal from the left overs of Sunday's roast. Chicken, roasties, parsnips, sprouts etc. a couple of minutes in the mic and done - t'was piggin' lish as we say in our house
Also making - chicken stock from the carcass, onions, carrot and leek tops
Also making later - or continuing to make - my knitted jumper, i knitted one for DD a couple of years ago, but she has gone off it and minimised herself a couple of sizes. So i have unravelled, washed, rolled and am reknitting the same jumper a couple of sizes smaller - but for me, this time :rotfl:
minimising my work emails - i am leaving my job in just over 2 weeks so i am trying to get through al the outstanding work. So excited for my new venture - a PhD :j Enrolment on Thurs.
Mending - if i get round to it - some buttons on my coat have fallen (or about to fall) off. it is my "not quite freezing" coat - but as i have now progressed to my "it's freezing" coat (which comes before the "Oh my god it's Arctic out there" coat :rotfl:) I have a small amount of time before I need it again. And a couple of pairs of socks have a tiny toe hole - they would take a small darn to eke them out for longer.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
FPK would there be enough of the stiffer fabric to make a slightly structured cami top to go under a sheer blouse? It could be a very glam winter top with a bold necklace2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Evening all
Fighting the Blue Funk today as b*****d Estate agent didnt tell me that a) the vendors of my property had moved to another Estate Agent and b) that they are already in the process of buying the house I had made an offer on! Then son rang up and said he was too stressed to go into work  Being a single working parent I always had to go in!! Never mind how YUCK, down, depressed and stressed I was!! His new GF is encouraging this 'work doesnt matter' attitude! As she is pregnant she wants him at home with her waiting on her hand and foot! Heavens knows how she's gonna cope with a baby!!! If he doesnt work then they will loose their rental property - sorry folks rant over - but any suggestions welcome! For both issues! (Oh plus one viewer for my house rang up 1/2 hr before due and said they werent coming and I'd tidied up etc!! )
anyway have been trying to make myself do stuff! So managed to catalog half the book I want an on line book company to look at and possibly collect. Also just out of the oven is a cake with a chocolate topping - which has Minimiised by baking stocks by the drips in an old bottle of vanilla essence and several tatty bit of chocolate for cooking! Hence title - now have a gap on my kitchen shelf!! Such a relief! (I have been trying for about 6 months to get my vast stocks of unused and bits of stuff!)
Posted 2 cards that I had made and did some dusting (surely that counts as minimising - the dust I mean!)
Making do - dinner was the other half of yesterday's rice and baking was from ingredients already here!!
No mending today but looking back it was not just a wasted day I actually did quite a bit (went to work as well - only part time)
Hey - chattin to you lot really cheers me up.
Welcome new folk to the supportive lot on here! Ignore me when I get one of my Blue Funk days!! On here can be a remedy for it!
A better day tomorrow - hopefully!

Morning all,
Thanks for the blouse suggestions! A cowl neck is a lovely idea, Silvasava. I'll have to look at it when it is washed and see--in fact cutting it on the bias make work out better. Floss a double layered top was what I was originally thinking--probably kimono shaped sleeves (but with a seem given fabric constraints) out of the chiffon and then a spaghetti strap cami out of the lining. Whatever I make is going to stretch my sewing skills as I've never worked with silk before. A good way to practice, I suppose.
VJsMum--what an exciting new venture!
Poppy you must be such a skilled knitter!
I'll be busy with work for most of today so most of my MMM will be maintaining. I might try to get some knitting done in my lunch break. The burrito bowls went down well last night and half of the meat has been frozen pre cooked. I did forget to add the black beans, so next time they'll go even further. I can't remember what is on the menu plan tonight, I think it is probably salmon, sweet potatoes and broccoli. OH isn't too keen on salmon so I'll try to think of a nice topping for it, he particularly likes a mustard and red onion relish so I might do that.
We are very water-logged here. Not flooded, thankfully, but the ground seems totally saturated. I saw a forsythia in bloom on my way to the gym yesterday, it seems a bit early for it, I'm hoping all of the other poor plants don't get confused!0 -
Oh lyn, those days come along sometimes. You are a very upbeat and optimistic and I know it will return soon.Bloomin house buyin/sellin is a minefield. It will all work out in the end.I have no advice as to your son.I suppose he will work things out for himself but it doesn't stop us parents from worrying. The positive is that you get to enjoy your tidy house.xxx
I am in the throes (death throes?)of a massive kitchen refurb. The muck, disruption and noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!The walls are knocked down, kitchen out, floor on the way to being level. They were 4 small rooms all with slightly different floor levels.(flooring guy coming today, pencilled in for fitting next tuesday!)I wanted to refit the kitchen and cant as it was held together with glue.New kitchen chosen(cheapest I could find)Next job is to straighten the walls so the kitchen will fit properly. It involves boarding and plastering. All extra expense I wasn't expecting.
My sitting room looks like its off one of those hoarding programmes.Just need my family to turn up and beg me to fill a skip!!!!!!!!!!!
To add to the mele the plasterer is plastering the hall stairs and landing.
I have been going out a lot and hanging round shops because they are clean and warm. Not bought much,a photo frame from the chazzer,oh and a kitchen.
I have a short break booked with my daughter to Amsterdam and have arranged a party a couple of days after I return,I must be mad.
Starting to snow here at the moment.

Morning! On todays list -
Mend - a hole in the sleeve of my top [its massive, but this is an 'at home' top only!]
Minimise - some more clutter in the work room, probably papers and general junk
Make do - with a quick dinner for everyone tonight [beans or egg on toast etc] as I have to go driving around everywhere picking kids up at dinner time.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
Morning all
Hope everyone is managing to keep warm and safe and are as well as possible.
Used up two little balls of wool knitting a couple of prem baby hats (just need to sew the hats up) while watched a DVD last night - the DVD was borrowed so Dh has returned it to his friend today.
Gave a neighbour a length of sticky back Velcro she needed for a project. Made a total of 8 patchwork squares this week and I've cut the sashing out so will get that sewn on today - all the little fabric scraps were minimised into the bin.
Have a good day all.SPC~12 ot 124

LynP a quiet word with your son, on his own, and point out that if he loses his job he will be homeless with a child on the way. Man Up I think is the expression! Make it clear that you cant help, being in the middle of a move yourself, and that you couldn't have them to live with you for the same reason. Keep it low key but leave him in no doubt that you are not his 'parachute' its down to him. This may seem harsh but if the situation is explained to him before it reaches crisis point he knows how the land lies and is under no illusions about what you will do for him. Hope you don't mind me giving my thruppence worth but there comes a point where they need to be on their own.0

Make Do - I cut the 'empty' tube of eye gel I use in half and managed to get an extra 3 days of use out of it using cotton buds to scoop out the gel
No mending, but I am working on minimising my work related paperwork. Being an av0n rep brings in a lot of paperwork each campaign (each campaign is 3 weeks long) and I've been behind with dealing with it since JulyI always fall behind then due to school holidays, then back to school catch up around the house for 2 weeks and my Christmas selling starts in October and runs full pelt until the week before Christmas and I try to have the whole of Christmas off. I keep everything on paper until I can sit down and get it sorted on the software I use. Normally this happens in a mad rush in April when I realise I need to do my tax return and update the tax credits people but I'm getting a head start this year
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
