Morning everybody and a happy New Year to all.
Ally Thank you for getting us started.
We also stayed home last night and enjoyed an evening as a family, we enjoyed a simple buffet from things already in store but we ensured it was different from our Christmas buffet by including things like duck pancakes, but really it was scraps from the goose served with hoi sin sauce (from stores), Chinese pancakes (bought in bulk from the Chinese supermarket), cucumber & spring onion (from fridge) as well as duck party selection (frozen, bought with Orchard voucher) as well as other bits and pieces from stores/fridge, it cost us pennies and was hugely enjoyed. We finished off the evening by all squeezing into our bed for a cuddle, toasted crumpets (lots less crumbs than toast) and cocoa to watch the 2nd Christmas lecture (dd suggestion) and see in the New Year.
Today:
Go to a HE social event
B/D from stores
Take our contribution to lunch from stores
Minimal heating, we have jumpers and blankets and we can burn free wood on the stove if it gets cooler later.
Transfer bank account interest to ISA

Turn off lights and appliances not in use

Morning all! Happy New Year!
Thanks to Ally for starting us off
RFTA - have you looked at the KonMarie thread on the OS board? It's about only keeping things that bring you joy, as opposed to getting rid of things that you don't like (IYSWIM). I found that I was able to get rid of a lot of things that I had "just because". I didn't think that I had very much stuff, but it turns out that there was a lot that just didn't speak to me.
As for New Year - me and OH didn't even stay up. We were in bed by 10. Unfortunately the fireworks woke OH up and he didn't really get back to sleep but I was fast. He's still asleep now.
We have a different take on New Year's Resolutions this year. We are making a vision board. I have cleared the large pin board in the kitchen of old bills and rubbish. Each of us have to collect images that inspire our vision for our life in 2016. So I might collect pictures of lovely crocheted things, a garden full of veggies, a nice healthy running picture etc. I think that this will be better than a resolution because you can't break a vision, you just try to move towards it.
Today will be a normal day really of pottering round I think. We are going to a party at m-i-l's later (really CBA if I'm honest, would rather stay at home with my crochet)
The list:- B/L(D?) from stores - not sure if we'll eat before m-i-l's
- Wash on and out on the line to start drying - done
- Hoover - OH has done upstairs. Decided to leave downstairs until after the decs come down (tomorrow/Sunday)
- Spray down chilli plants with soap spray as seem to be covered in whitefly
- Crochet
- Possibly remove some decluttery type items
- Some candles in little glass holders that burnt out last night
- Used up another candle
- Used up two moisturisers
Have a good one all

Good morning! Happy New Year to all and thanks to Ally for starting the post.
I want to thank this board for the amazing support and advice over the past year. Last night was the cost of a bottle of wine with friends. Working so many jobs, I haven't got on here as much as I like but saving money is just as important (if not more so) than dragging it in. So today I will:
1. Go for a walk in the sunshine with the family.
2. Spend 30 minutes decluttering the bedroom.
3. Work on project for 2 hours.
4. Watch a free film.
5. Declutter the fridge and make a list of food for week.
6. Ring mum.
7. Send off contract for summer job.
8. Have a bath with festive gifts.
9. Sign up to Noddle (advice on Noddle would be gratefully received)DMP since August 2011
DFD January 2018 hopefully sooner :j
Debt at start: £98769:eek:
Debt now: £24993:o
Paid back: £73776 :j

morning all and happy new year.
Am posting as I am being adored by two 8 week old sheep dog pups. Be grateful we do not have smelly vision!
Have done all machines on cheap rate and got 6 bags of recycle rubbish from feed shed for tomorrow bin collection.
Had a lovely family meal last night and used up a load of fridge contents. So funny here, the old dog is so fed up of irritating pups. He has a special dog face if "oh no". We do love him.
Kitchen needs a clean and we need to dechristmas !
Have a wonderful 2016

Morning everyone and Happy New Year
We were at a family party last night so didnt spend anything. Planning a quiet day at home today, unless DS1 decides to go out and needs ferrying about. No-one else is up yet.
Feel a bit flat today. I just have this niggling feeling that things in my life are not how I want them to be but I have no idea what to do about it. Money is going to be very tight this year too.0 -

It's common to feel flat in the new year. The weather's been lousy, the festivities are over and there's 365 days of new-ness to face. I get it too some years. The only thing I can suggest is making a plan.
A few years ago my ex of 15 years walked out on me, unexpectedly. Though it was the middle of the year I sat down with a big diary and made a plan, not exactly New Me Resolutions, I'd have forgotten about those a week in, but real plans week by week, realistic plans. Plans that'd get me through the 50 or so problems I now had and that were threatening my sanity. This sort of stuff:
Week 1: Make a detailed financial plan.
Week 2: Make a plan to get on top of the house.
Week 3: Talk over a situation with a friend/myself/Doctor/Samaritans if it gets that bad.
Week 4: Plan to find a job.
and so on...
Then in the front of the diary I wrote an Emergency Plan. A page to refer to on dark days:
*There is no problem so big that it can't be solved with planning, patience and time.
*If I feel overwhelmed I will go to bed and try to sleep it off or at least shut my eyes and take deep breaths while wrapped in a duvet.
*If I wake up still feeling like hell I will talk to someone about it....anyone...even the stranger at the bus stop.
These days for those really awkward problems my OH recommends writing down a plan in this format. <Shuffles off upstairs for OH's Stress Management book.>
What exactly is the problem?
Who is causing the problem?
How does the problem present itself?
Why is this problem occurring?
When does the problem arise?
Where does the problem arise?
Followed by using those questions to solve the issue.
Why do I need to tackle the problem?
When will I tackle the problem?
Where will I tackle the problem?
Who can help me tackle the problem?
How do I look after myself when tacking the problem?
What steps do I need to take, in what order to tackle the problem?
Don't know if this helps, but maybe it's a start...
