Fri 1st Jan - What Small DFW-Style Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

_party_ Happy New Year everyone!
Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Hi all,
We decided not to go to the party, as it'd mean a long trip in the pouring rain and I was feeling too tired. So we are staying in drinking the alcohol left over from Decemberfest.
* Clean house with washable cloths and Stardrops.
* Ditto car.
* Go for a long walk with OH. Looks horrid out there, going off the idea!
* Exchanging greetings with family and friends via Facebook for free.
Enough about me. What about you guys?

Morning
Happy new year one and all!
We stayed in and saw the new year in with a binge watching session of American Horror season 4..so good..OH'S parents called from the pub at 12 to wish us a happy new year. And my son came to try and find us for a glass of water and couldn't work out if it was morning as we were downstairs so late
Feeling somewhat tired this morning but enough of that!
Excited for the new start today brings.
Today will be planning a shop to spend my free nectar points and to buy a couple of items that will earn even more points. That I'd buy anyway. As it's nectar points it counts as a NSD by my own system.
Eating up more christmas cake too.
Have a good one all.

Morning everyone & a very Happy New Year to all
May 2016 be good to you & yours .....
I stayed up (watching Private Practice on box sets!) and am glad I did as there was loads of fireworks and my poor dog is absolutely terrified of themso I spent the 1st hour or so of the year cuddling a shaking, wimpering hulk of a Lab
Got a couple of hours sleep and then gave in.
My resolution for this year is to try to declutter - I'm a bit of a hoarder and really struggle to 'let go'
Today I have / will:- Cleared out 2 drawers in my bedroom - took 3 belts out & everything else went straight in a recycling bag :T
- While doing the above - I found a ring I thought I'd lost and £30 :j
- Visit folks & have a nice NY lunch
- Other meals from stores
- Nice walk with dog on way to folks place
- Try to find waterproof trousers for a reasonable price
Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Morning all and happy new year! I stayed in, watched a film and went to bed early (a luxury really). This morning I got up at 5.30… cycled to my local homeless shelter and volunteered for the breakfast shift. Home already too. Great start to the year! I never thought I'd be so happy to stay home at age 30!
Will be pottering and decluttering today - setting some goals for the year. Hope you all have a good day.0 -
Morning all, and Happy New Year
I didn't go out last night either, watched some rubbish on the TV and went to bed early as I was feeling low yesterday.
It is Not Raining at the moment :T so will take the dog out shortly. I think it is supposed to rain again later though
Other things:
See to hens
Put up lovely new calendar (free with the magazine I subscribe to)
Make the pie and lamb casserole that I didn't get round to yesterday
Sort out baby GD's toys and put the outgrown ones that she doesn't play with aside to go to the CS tomorrow when they are openAt the moment they won't all fit in the box, and form an untidy pile in the corner
Bit of housework
Any surveys, FPL etc
Scrub the few parsnips that remain on the garden table (OH dug them just before Christmas), and bring them in with a view to either using or freezing themParsnip soup sounds good
Check the fridge to make sure nothing needs using / freezing immediately to avoid waste (still got a bit of a food mountain)
Post on challenge threads, trying to avoid simply repeating what I have posted here!
Not planning any spending
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Morning folks
It seems a bit weird for me to post twice in the same day but hey ho, hopefully it'll make up for my lack of absence recently.
I'm so glad that I stayed in last night and chilled rather than going out, spending money I didn't need to and I even managed to clear some of the sky box.
Today's list:
- meals from stores
- check online banking
- checked investments and reinvested
- need to us date sig
- if dd's have gone out need to round payments to my credit card
- need to check my noddle report
- may be off to the cinema to watch star wars. looked online and the prices are £11.50 each (!!!!) but i have bought 2 tickets for £13.50
- will be buying lottery tickets
- read papers online
- need to declutter - have a major sort through paperwork
- take measurements - eugh but you have to start somewhere
I think it is time to visit my 101 list - there are so many things that I can do this year.
Take care all
