Ahoy there
Am feeling much better today just left with a bark and and bit of tiredness - was working/driving from 1.45 till 7.30 but have still managed to sort out a load of paperwork. Wildthing - I have also heard that alcohol down the throat slowly actually kills any lingering bugs there and does numb the pain - I do hydrate with loads of water normally but I up it when I have a cold. I agree re caffeine and alcohol being dehydrating so I try to balance it out. Thank you for caring
Another NSD as CBA to go out anywhere!! It gonna get spendy this week tho as DS2 is staying for a week to help me mend the house! Its so expensive! but have just seen the BBC1 prog about spending less - I have used Wi!kes paint for years - it really covers well - apparently a lot of landlords and professional decorators use it too!The lady on the show thought that W's paint was the most expensive!!

Day 69/366 More necessary spends incurred as had to collect the teenogre from Gatwick. They charge £4.50 per half an hour in the short stay...wouldn't want to park in the premium level then! Son bought us a bottle of limoncello though so very civilised! Other than a quick dash into the Co-op for a couple of YS items - they were reducing the reductions woohoo no silly spending.

Morning Shipmates
Glad to hear you are feeling better Lyn that type of illness really drags you down so hopefully you are shaking it off now.
I have had a spend but a good one
I needed new sofas as I have a bad hip and mine was so soft as I think the cushions are breaking down.
Found one just down the road from me.I looks brand new not a mark on itits a quality JL made 2 big sofas so comfy. The lady is selling it as wait for it she is decorating  and it no longer matches.
So she sold it to me for £300 its such a good buy I cant believe my luck. As I have been looking at new and they are so expensive.
Shame of it is I did have a quick look at replacing the cushions on mine and they were £65 each so would have cost £260 just to replace the foam in mine and as the arms are a bit worn I couldnt see the point of spending that. So I can understand why so many end up in land fill its just a throw away item for many people.
Mine is going to a furniture charity I am sure it will do someone a good turn if they dont have dodgy hips :rotfl:

Have had a few spends as going away for almost a month in April. I needed trousers and t-shirts but kept my small kondoed wardrobe in mind and bought items to mix and match. Treated myself to a nice new swimsuit and some undies. Three older t-shirts have gone in CS bag. Three books bought from charity table at SM read and redonated. Have also bought some birthday presents for GS 1 this month.2025 Decluttering Campaign 733/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Hello everyone, DD is going away at Easter but like her mum she's left it to the last minute to get a bargain. She sent me a text to say she'd found one at a saving of £900 off the original price. So I brought it up to have a look and it was cheaper than she'd mentioned so I texted her back she said too late mum I've booked it. But it must have been getting at her that it had dropped so quickly within minutes less than 2 to be exact. Well she phoned 1st choice and spoke with them no joy so she asked for a supervisor who understood how she was feeling, got her to rebook whilst they had her on the phone and low and behold it had dropped again so she'd saved a further £240 and they cancelled the original booking free of charge. She was told that they review prices every 15 mins and adjust if need be and its normally on the more expensive holidays which they have more to loose if they go unsold. Travel companies reserve rooms and would have to pay anyway. So she one happy bunny she got £818pp holiday for £407pp plus quidco at 4% so final price £391pp
So don't book a holiday too early in the day before they've had chance to review the price. My Easter holiday cost £41.28 for Mon to Good Friday but then our income is a lot different to DD lol.Why pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
Well done to your Dd on her holiday bargain. We have to book our next year holiday house almost as soon as well get home at the end of August. We go to the Isle of Wight every year and need a large house that will take two well-behaved dogs and four lads, a grandma and DD and her OH. We also need parking for two cars, and if possible wi-fi for the boys.We are going back this year to a house in Chale that we have stayed at 3 times before. The Island gets booked up very quickly, so we have to get in as quick as we can.
But well done to First Choice for helping out, hope she has a great time.0 -
Evening folks
Quickly typing it on the train - sorry for typing mistakes. A friend asked this morning if I wanted to come to a ocncert tonight. After checking out the artist I said I will come. So a quick dash home to drop some stuff and feed the cats and then into town. Dinner will be fish and chips while waiting for friends train and once I'm home I will have to find a lunch for tomorrow
Used to really hate such spontanious things in the past but really love them now.
Jackie, your hols always sound amazing! By the way I read an old tread of someone who tried to live on WWII rations and the thungs you tell in there are so interesting!
Wow, what a bargain with the holidays! Ao it is all about booking tje right moment! My sister once told me thar flights are cheaper in the evenings and at weekends as holidaygoers will otherwise book somewhere else while business traveller will just book the expensive flight during the day.

I'm really enjoying reading everyone's contributions. So many good ideas.
We generally have nsd's on Monday through to Thursday as we are at work. My husband works on a university campus and has lots of spending temptation around him but he has no interest in paying money for takeaway foods. My workplace has no shopping temptation (apart from the usual workplace spends). I used to always buy something from the Book People who drop a selection of bargain books/gifts off in the staff room but I've been really good at ignoring that.
Friday is generally a food shop. We used to do a weekly supermarket shop but I have been exploring using our market and the local shops and that keeps me away from the temptationto over stock my cupboards. Today was a £30 Lidl shop. I stocked up on cleaning stuff and I have discovered that their diet yoghurts are perfectly palatable!
Re charity shops. I used to be an absolute fiend but rarely find anything I want in them any more. I'm not sure if its because I'm fussier or the selection is poorer!
Hope everyone manages a fun but frugal weekend!Stashbusting 2019 - 230/3000 -
Day 71/366 Another NSD. Instead us plus a chum went on one of the free Sussex Wildlife Trust Walks. Lovely sunny day- saw my first ever Marsh Tit and enjoyed the singing of the sky larks. Late lunch was a YS pie and I'd made ginger rockbuns for later.
