Day 55/366 We've gone wild today and had the roast meal deal at our local Wetherspoons. I gather it's finishing next week so looks like we got in just in time! Part of the reason was to give us a cooking break as it's been a long haul workwise. Got lots done at home instead- the teenogre has sorted out his clothes. We now have several items for the charity shop and a load more for the recycling along with a few bits of mine. In true thrifty style all buttons and zips have been removed.

  • NSD at all this week I hope ,cupboards are full along with the fridge/freezer so I am staying away from anything remotely resembling a shop.

I have to go to the bank this morning to stash the cash I have left over from my February food budget purse (it goes into my holiday account ) and draw money for March out for food and incidental bills £60.00 for food, and £25 for Quiz,History club and window cleaner. Then back home to make a trifle, I haven't had one for ages and I thought i have all the stuff in the cupboards and it will make a change from yogurts for puddings this week.I am going to have a good rummage around the food cupboards and see what else I can find to use up this week.

Hope you all have a good NBI week and hang on to your cash :)

  • Ahoy shipmates,

Still on board despite not posting very much!

Got paid and the overtime I did last month has pushed our savings over 8K :j next month we are expecting a large payment to come in from DH's work so should be getting close! We will make an appointment to see a broker at the beginning of April.

Now Mother's Day gifts/cards are sorted, picked up Easter eggs and birthday cards for my niece and nephew from Mr. S. Usually I go a bit mad with cards and presents but this time have stuck to £3 each for the card and egg. Will also put cash in their cards as this is what they prefer now they're teenagers, and it means I'm not spending on stuff for the sake of it.

Not spent anything on myself so far except paying to attend a hen do in July. Money well spent
  • yorpington forgive me for being nosey, just wondering if you actually live in Orpington, as that's where I am ;)

Kids were on Inset Day today and one of their friends had a party at the bowling alley then McD's. I'm annoyed at myself for not getting into the cheap card shop over the weekend, meaning I spend £2.65 on a card in the same shop I bought their friend's voucher from  Other than that, got £20 out, spent £1 on sugar from the pound shop (hadn't realised we were running out) plus £3 parking and a fiver in McDs for my meal (kids were paid for, I was so hungry I felt like passing out). We had cake for dessert. So I get a day off cooking :T and able to stretch the shopping for another day. Had to rush back for DDs Rainbows so no opportunity to look around for anything else to spend money on!

Working for the rest of the week :(

Oops I appear to have forgotten to add in the days I went away so now I find I'm actually on day 60/366 not the one I thought I was on....ah well onwards and upwards. A NSD and a veggie spag bol made from a small amount of leftover veggie mince combined with various oddments of vegetables lurking in the bottom of the fridge and freezer. A bit cobbled together but it's given me another day before I need to go shopping tomorrow. Have gleaned an extra day's one off clean for later on this month- went along to meet the lady today. Arilx

  • Family visited this weekend and we all managed to NBI :j

Saturday- A stroll to the park, feeding the ducks, little one enjoyed the play area, just generally enjoying the rather fresh air.

Sunday we donned walking shoes and headed off to the peak district. The length of walk was dictated by the person with the littlest legs, but she did very well and walked much further than she was carried.

Evenings were spent on board games and wine

Takeaways were avoided although cream tea after the Sunday walk wasn't :rotfl:

Its March tomorrow and surely NBI will become easier for us all as the days get brighter. :D

Today marks five months of buying no clothes, shoes or accessories, as inspired by the 2015 thread! :jI've saved money, freed up time and my priorities feel very different now. I haven't even bought a new pair of tights yet - I had tonnes of black opaques that I'm working through, and even though I'm down to my last pair of flesh coloured ones, the weather's too rubbish to wear them! So I might be able to delay even that purchase for a while longer...:rotfl:
