Lyneplatinum: I found that Ryvita were a bit on the dry side, so I use Crackerbread or the Lidl equivalent of cracker bread. I think the brand is Rivercote They are cheaper than the 'Crackerbread' brand
The sesame seed ones are really nice.I try to stock up when they are on offer as the don't go soft or out of date so I always have a decent stash of them If I have some soup for lunch I will also have four cracker bread type crackers spread with either cream cheese and a sliced tomato, cucumber etc on top so its quite filling or I will crumble up a rice cake into the soup which 'bulks' it out a bit
I worked it out that a small bowl of soup, four cracker breads with cream cheese used as a spread and tomato and cucumber on top followed by an orange or piece of fruit of some sort comes to around 300-325 calories and is pretty filling. This leaves you with a bit more 'wriggle room ' for dinner in the evening.
I have porridge, bran flakes or granola for breakfast so they fill my up until lunchtime. what ever I have for dinner I will pile up with lots of veg or salad depending what I am cooking. I also drink gallons of water when I am trying to lose weight as my diet nurse said a lot of people need to detox their kidneys after Christmas and water is the body's best was of cleansing its system.
When your indoor central heating needs a cleanse you have a flush through, so think of the water as doing a thorough cleanse on your body parts:):)
NBI as yet this week and I am hoping to do my first shop of the year on Friday .
Went to the cinema with my friend yesterday and we split the cost of the ticket as I have a Cinema's Exhibitors ticket which gives me one spare ticket. She bought lunch for us and I had a pot of tea and a BLT at Costas .
I knew the calorie intake of the sandwich and a pot of tea so I was well within my allowance .I get quite focused when I want to lose some surplus pounds and don't find it too hard at all. I also write down everything that I eat or drink and its better then so it reminds you of what your doing Its so easy to open the fridge and 'graze' especially when its full of Christmas left overs:):)
All of the chocolate goodies I have donated to my DGS as they are pretty good at removing the temptations from my house:):)
We saw The Danish Girl yesterday ,not too sure about it at first, but the photography was amazing, and the costumes were lovely. I think Eddie Redmayne may get an Oscar for it, and once you got used to seeing him in a dress, the film wasn't too bad but it was a little over long I thought.
Nice day out though and a good natter with my oldest friend
Just pottering around indoors today as my cold is in full bloom and I am coughing and spluttering at the moment.
Won a bottle of vino at the pub quiz last night so that's gone into the stash.
Hope you are all getting through your post-Christmas stocks and using everything up
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Talking about crackers, I love the aldee ones in a green box, and the ryvita cracked pepper square ones

Talking about food crackers, does anybody remember what i think used to be called "breakfast biscuits"? They were a sort of square rusk and possibly made by Peak Freans. I used to enjoy them with a smear of butter and some nice mature cheddar but haven,t seen them for years. Really annoying when your favourite foods get discontined, often as a result of company takeovers and range discontinuations.0

Shopping went well! I did stock up on some shampoo but mostly conditioner since I only have 1 half full bottle in my shower :rotfl: I also got two deodorants because the 2 I had (in my gym bag and at home) were irritating my skin, itching and didn't work at allI think I did good

I had one of those days today (at work) where I was running around madly all day and yet achieved nothing of any value at all!
Nearly bought a nice pizza on way home (supermarket, not takeaway) as a treat to make myself feel better, but while I was trying to locate them in the unfamiliar Asda I was in, I suddenly thought, actually, no, I've got uncooked potatoes left over from Xmas dinner, so I had those baked with cheese. Bit boring, but healthier and made me realise I don't need posh pizza to make me feel better about myself, I need to be more organised so I'm not running around pointlessly, and can therefore get more done.So Asda lost out there, with their unfamiliar store layout!
Lynplatinum - I totally agree with you, and a lot of my second-hand buying is not just about the money, but also about the desire not to create more landfill. Re the kids toys, my mum swears by a paper pad and pen in her handbag when she takes the kids out and she keeps them entertained for ages with it. We also love the lego though - my BIL let my two have his old lego and they love it, combined with new stuff - I know it's plastic but it's not tat (BIL's stuff has lasted more than 20 years) and the kids (and their dad!) spend hours being very very creative with it. That and Playmobil are our favourites and I've pretty much banned any other types of plastic toy from the house, as i know from experience, they will be played with briefly then lost, broken or forgotten about and will then sit there taking up valuable room! Most of the branded character 'playsets' you see on TV don't actually do that much and aren't that flexible, so they get boring v. quickly. I've never bought my kids one - I'd rather they have things that will fulfill them, books, music, craft/art supplies, sports/outdoor activity items, science kits, experiences/days out etc - they love anything like that. Oh and playdoh, but they're getting a bit beyond that now, and i just find lots of hard dry bits of it everywhere!0 -
Hello all
£12 fresh shop at Lidl but that will see me through until about mud month now so all good as that's my first shop since payday.
Am car sharing with a colleague so most days we alternate the drive so cash saved on fuel too. Water meter DD has been reduced to £17 a month so all in all a good start to 2016! 4/6 NSD so far.

Day 6/366. Only what was on the list got bought at the SM and I combined the trips so I could also get rid of my plastic bag recycling. Last night I was about to cook some oven chips when I remembered we had a few potatoes that needed using up instead so homemade chips it was.

Good evening everybody,
I am failing miserably at this challenge!!
I think i have spent money mostly unnecessary every day. I am in the midst of a deep depression just now so i think that could be the cause of my spending.
However i have gave myself a good talking to and i am starting from a clean slate.
Onwards and upwards
regards:j0 -
Ahoy all!!
Many thanks for excellent tips Jackie O - I know there is a weight loss thread on here so I wont go on about it so much - I darent get involved in another thread - I would spend far too much time on here! So may occasionally report how its going!
Well done Bexter - seems your year is off to a great start!!
tooties - I am over weight because for years I have used food for comfort so I am trying to constructively find other ways to comfort myself - such as a long bath - a short relax on the floor listening to a 1/2 hr radio program etc etc! Slowly am coming out of the negative and depressed place I was in. This is not a challenge - you cannot 'fail' remove that word from your vocabulary - right now!! (I would recommend) We all fall overboard now (this NBI stuff takes practice) and then but your shipmates here on NBI will happily reach over and pull you back on board! :A So reach up - grab the lifebelt and welcome back on board!!
NBI for me today was also rubbish - went to Lid!l - having already spent £23 of household budget (but am now well stocked with groceries - Lid!l and proteins in the freezer - Morr!son) and so purse is clanging shut!
However, 'happy stash ' cash got opened today - went for smear test - which I hate - and went to Cos!a for coffee and sani as treat for lunch - and bumped into old friend from work. Once a year we used to book the same day off and go and visit a National Trust property. It felt such a guilty pleasure!! I used to drive and she paid for a full lunch out and a tea/coffee/ice cream. We resolved to do it again this year - we have both been so busy with our own businesses that we have forgotten about having fun!!! So that is something to look forward to!!
I can pat myself on the back in one way tho - at one time I would have had the sani and a cake from Cos!a  but I didnt - thereby saving both money and my waistline!! I did not give in to the cleverly placed cake products - so I did do some NBI after all!!!
:eek:EEEK look at the time - must go to bed! Nite all!Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!
